Hi All,

I'm hoping for some help from all of the experts out there.

My 07 dual cab has developed a clunking/whupping sound that seems to be coming from the front passenger side. It is speed related and comes in at about 50-60km/h, I have changed tyres around, replaced bearings (1 was noisy already). It's there in 2 & 4wd. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

You've checked the suspension pivots for wear? ball joints/king pins etc? if not adequately greased they wear quite quickly, esp if wheel ballance is poor. NB there is some default free movement, but not a lot. be careful of scammers saying it's worse than it is. That said, it's the left Front wheel--they normally wear things first--expect to repeat for right one sometime, and budget/drive accordingly.

Well I finally got fed up with the noise and frustrated with not being able to find a solution so I took it to the local Toyota service centre.

They confirmed that it was definitely on the left front but after checking all the steering and suspension, replaced a worn tie rod end, rotated wheels, drain and replace front diff oil, checked left CV, they have no idea what is causing it. Their thoughts are either wheel bearings (which I have already replaced) or CV shaft issue.

I'm surprised that no one except Manxman has offered any ideas?
