hi guys,

sunday i flipped my 2004 sr5 turbo diseal hilux on the highway. (im alive and okay)

my roof is crushed but engine front back all okay.

its a long story but i dont have insurance to cover.

i paid $22k 6 months ago, has 115kms on the clock, manual.

what im thinking of doing is buying a older hilux/4runner/surf and changing my engine into it & anythink else that will swap over.

can anyone tell me what models of hilux will fit a 2004 turbo disel engine in?

im new to all this so thank in advance.

Which motor do you have? bodies usually changed about September, and 1998-2004 are all much the same series, another one begins after sept 04, which has the D4D? Stay with the body that takes your engine and most things will be well. each body lasts abt 5 yrs production.

NB: D4D 05-07 has a known bug with injector seals leaking, leading ultimately to carbon deposits blocking the oil pickup. If you have one, check manually before refitting. There are posts here about it.

I assume you've had a quote to fit a new cab roof etc? A bent chassis is a write-off, but the rest is doable-if not cheap.
