hey guys. Looking to purchase a corolla sportivo this weekend! Anything I should be looking out for in particular ? I'll also mention it's got 160k on the clock. How do they hold up with that many ks? Thanks

Hi mate,

160,000kms on the clock is just below average for these cars (according to Red Book), They can last well into 300,000km+ depending how it was driven, maintenance etc.

I'd be looking at and speaking to the owner and that might give you an idea on how the car was driven. e.g.: When I had a look at a Sportivo, a young man got out of the Sportivo smoking, then proceeded to tell me how hard the car goes.

When taking for a test drive, change gears at higher revs, this tests if the gearbox is 'crunching' (pay close attention to the 2nd and 3rd gears here). On that, pay attention to the clutch. You will also hear any exhaust rattling here.

Umm basics, check paint/bodywork, shine a torch into the oil refill point to look for any sludge, shine a torch into the radiator coolant to check for colour. Check log books if they have them. Matching numbers.

Full lock both left and right to check CVs.

Check the car has factory parts! e.g.: When I looked at one, the steering wheel was from an Ascent and the airbag light was on in the dash, owner had no idea why it was doing that and said that is was like that when he got it.

Check underneath the car incase it has been jacked up incorrectly at any time.

Cheers.
