hey guys what is the widest wheel and tyre size i can put on the rear of my 97 hilux i hve had 245 on the rear before with no problem but im wondering whats the widest i can go as im going to be building it into some thing of a monster and will need some decent grip

Do you own an angle grinder? Because that is your only limitation.

yeah I do but I don't want to cut it up heaps just wanted fat wheels that sat in there properly that didn't require slashing up the tub

for road use, the limits are that it must not protrude outside the profile of the body. for practical purposes you should not have them too wide as the axle assembly has load bearing limits you might easily exceed-saftey margins notwithstanding. There is more, I think 110% overwidth track is a limit too. Check your permitted modifications for your state.
