Drivers side door

hi all my drivers side door doesn't lock with the remote but does with the key. Can someone please tell me what the problem could be?

Do the passenger doors do the same thing? It could be the actuator, a connection or possibly wiring.

When you sit in the car can you flick your lock on the door handle, and hear if the lock mechanism is working or locking drivers/all the doors. And does the remote work-( lock unlock )while you are inside.

Hi, thanks for the responses. The other 3 doors lock and unlock from inside and from outside the vehicle. The drivers door only locks with the key.

No it only locks with the key in the lock. It will lock pushing the lock on the door with my finger but that's it.

That is what I was asking.

Sounds like it might be a dead actuator. Depending on how confident you are, they are fairly easy to access by pulling the door card off. From there, you can easily diagnose it with a multimeter.

It's the actuator, they are around $300 from Toyota and easy to replace.

Take the door trim off

remove the door barrel ( Held in with a trox bit)

Unbolt the window track ( Have the window up

Unclip the plug going into the locking mechanism and undo the torx bits that fix it to the door.

Remove and replace.
