3VZFE Timing advance

Recommended Posts

Was reading on the interwebs that you can get a bit more pepper from the 3vz's, if you advance the timing to about 15 degrees btdc, but couldn't find enough information about it to know if it's safe to do. Which brings me here, what are your thoughts? Something I thought I'd do whilst petrol is cheap, and would mostly like cheaper power.

If you mess it up, you could induce a knock, causing damage to your engine. Be careful if you attempt this.

Thanks for the advice, I knew some damage could occur if the job is bodged up. You wouldn't happen to have any experience with timing advance on the 3vz would you? Any advice would be appreciated.

Advance past factory specs should be done whilst listening to knock diagnosis equipment, such as that used on a dyno.
