Hi, I just bought my first Hilux, (2006 SR5 4x4 KUN26R) and an immediate observation is that none of my 4 doors hold themselves in the fully open position, which considering all my cars all my life did, is very annoying and actually dangerous to my 2 kids.

Is there something I need to do, a clip or something missing.... appears odd all 4 doors are exactly the same.

Thank, Simon.

I think it was owned by a small company, so fleet perhaps?

Is that significant?

It has probably had the doors opened many times over the years causing wear.

Wear to what? If i replace with new connector rods, that will fix?

Hopeful, but not convinced, if it was drivers only, id agree, but all 4 are equally free to bounce back at you and hit you in the head if you forget about it😣

What are connector rods called? Do you have a Haynes manual for a Hilux?

Toyota calls them "door checks".  If it's a dual-cab ex-fleet vehicle you can pretty much guarantee that every door has been opened and closed (and slammed) many many times, employees don't tend to care about those sort of things.
