Keeping my Avalon...keeping on

Recommended Posts

Hi, I just joined this club. I drive an Avalon Vxi. I don't plan to to trade it, it's my, 'couch on wheels'

Is there anyone on here from Perth?

I need a new mechanic, a good one at that. Has anyone got any recommendations of 'good Toyota mechanics' in Perth?

Putting it out there.

Hi,

I'm in Wanneroo, have a 2001 V6 Camry Conquest and a 2005 Corolla, both autos. Do most of my own work on both but as I get older it gets harder.

A couple of places I would recommend are: General work: "Precise Suspension and Auto"(PSA) in Wangara. For transmissions: "Northside Transmissions", also in Wanagra.

Don't know where you are but I hope that helps.

Haha, a couch on wheels is the exact description.  Still a great car.

Not so great for cornering, but will propell you in a straight line very quickly and respectably.

My dad had one for 14 years and did well over 300, 000 kays on it.

The guy down the road bought it from us and loves it. It still drives very nicely.

My dad looked after it well. Had it serviced regularly and spared no expense on it when it required it.

He got jealous when I purchased  late model Aurion and so he sold it and purchased an Aurion like mine hahahaha !!!

The Aurion is a much better car than the Avalon, but, there is no reason the avalon cannot do 500,000 kays on the same engine..

That 2GRFE engine is bullet proof.

Avalon has the 1MZFE, not the 2GRFE.  And the 2GR is far from bulletproof.

Well...this is mostly true. There were and still are Avalons fitted with the 2GR; however, they weren't Australian delivered.

This was also a well maintained 2GR.

They came with a factory defect though where the steering wheel is mounted on the wrong side of the car.  Toyota refuse to fix it too.
