I'm looking at replacing my 2010 SX6 fuel filter and have noticed 'Ryco' makes two different types, Z646 and Z708, and lists BOTH for 2006 - 2011 models?

Some sellers warn to check against OE number, (which I guess is fine if you already have the filter removed).

Of course I would like to know the correct filter number for my AURION, so I can purchase it before I start the job.

Would anyone know how you go about selecting the correct one?

Lift the rear seat and remove the cover plate. You can see the filter plate quite easily. I used the Z646 in our 07 ZR6.

Make sure you replace all of the o-rings and seals. If you don't, it can result in poor quality starts. These can be purchased from a dealership or Ryde Toyota on eBay(unsure if they still do the kits).

Hi Michael

I used the ryco Z646 on my aurion  2010 atx it is a 3 piece unit which consists of the sender unit on top the float unit  and the filter unit on the bottom. you have separate these to install the filter.( take your time with it)  also when you take the filter out make sure you have container to put the filter into to, To  contain the fuel from the filter. If have any questions let me know.

Thankyou both so much for your helpful information on the Fuel Filter problem.

Would be so much easier if Toyota told you say,...2006 - 2009 had 'X' type filter and 2010 - 2012 had 'Y' type.

But of course that would be much too easy wouldn't it MR TOYOTA !!!

Thanks again for your help guys, it's what makes these forums so valuable.

I used the genuine toyota filter on my 2010 aurion they only give the the filter,if you want the the strainer & sock you will need to purchase the whole unit which comes with the pump etc and its pretty expensive, thats the good thing with aftermarket you can actually purchase these parts without buying the pump ,

Trent i re-used my o-rings and seals without any issues i guess it depends on how many kms the car has done ?

It's hit and miss, plenty have done it with no issues, but there has also been quite a lot now with the starting issues as a result of reusing them.

You should always replace seals and o-rings as they harden over time, especially in a harsh environment like a fuel tank.

Actually i just remembered the toyota aurion filter did come will the o ring seals in the box, there was only one stuck i couldn't remove so i just left it didn't want to brake the housing, from memory it was my camry sportivo the filter didn't come with any o ring seals so i re-used everything

its true its just luck i guess if noting happens, you make a good point its a good idea to replace them while your at it since everything is open :thumbup1:
