Hi all,

After a bit of help with an issue with my airconditioner in my 2006 ATX.

So when the outside temp is low ie morning the aircon works perfect no issue.

Once the day warms up and it get to about 25 degrees the compressor will cut in, the revs will jump up and then the compressor will cut out again. So no cold air coming through.

I have had it checked by a workshop but as luck would have it there was no issue found and it worked perfectly for them.

Anyone had a similar issue and traced it back to relays, sensors???

Any help is appreciated.

One possible explanation is that the aircon system is low on refridgerant or a blocked filter. I would be inclined to ring an airconditioning shop or a mobile aircon service and get their thoughts on what it could be. Might be a case of getting them to do a leak test and a re-gas plus a filter replacement.

Hi Guys,

I have same issue too. I'm very keen to hear any solutions.

Cheers!

Hi Tengis,

I did end up getting this fixed.

So about 9 months before this post my air conditioning compressor started making bad bearing noise and was replaced.

At that stage they told me I would not need to replace the condenser. We then went into winter and stopped using it.

The condenser was actually becoming blocked and was spiking pressure and overloading the compressor, causing it too cut out.

If they had replaced the compressor and condenser at the same time it would have saved me money in having it regassed the second time.

Not only that, but the pressure was spiking to 200psi and has potentially taken some life out of the new compressor.

The airconditioning specialist I went to the second time was adamant that if they checked the pressures correctly they would have discovered the condenser was stuffed.

Anyway all sorted now and working very well

I don't understand how a condenser gets blocked if it's a sealed system. Condenser tubing is around 3/8" in diameter so it would take a hell of a lot of gunky stuff to block that !

Gunk inside a refrigeration system just doesn't form on it's own without the help of human intervention, I can assure you.

My only guess would be that the car has had front end damage repaired at some point and some sloppy panel shop guy left the system open and exposed to atmosphere.

Not only does Air-moisture then enter, the potential for other contaminants too.

I would have replaced the filter/drier and then a deep vacuum would be absolutely necessary prior to re charging. If a system isn't properly vacuumed then the moisture will ice up at the TX valve ( severely choking off the evaporator) causing the liquid refrigerant to back up in the high side. That would be an explanation for the high side pressures being so high.
