LN65 2LTE Conversion

Hi, I’ve got a rad old LN65 (1986) 4x4 hilux. I bought it 6 months ago with a tired engine, put 200km on it it chewed 5 litres of oil and you can fill in the blanks.

I’ve now picked up a 2LTE engine from an import 1992 surf. All complete bar exhaust manifold, turbo and thermostat housing.

I obviously have a few questions. As these engines are quite rare I’d like someone to confirm that the head on these is externally the same as a 3L head? It’s different from my 2L head so I can’t bolt up my manifold or thermostat housing.

2nd and possibly more important is choice of fuel pump. It has the electronic controlled unit and I have the ecu but no loom. I do have a spare 2L fully mechanical unit as well. Is there any value in using the fully mechanical pump to avoid wiring or should I just suck it up and find or make a loom?

there will be more questions but this is already long enough.

Cheers

Dylan
