98 3.0 diesel Hilux wont run

Hi everyone.

I have a 98 4x4 3.0 diesel (5l) hilux.

Engine was a low on compression and had a heap of oil leaks so I have recently gave it a basic freshen up.

I replaced rings, bearings, gave it a light hone, full gasket kit, full timing belt kit, diesel pump front seal, glow plugs, valve regrind and head planed.

Engine was reassembled correctly and to proper specs everything is correctly timed all marks line up dead on. Engine turns over fine now has plenty of compression turns over freely without any odd noises or anything out of the ordinary.

Have also bled the system, is glowing up properly, is getting fuel into injectors.

My knowledge with diesels is somewhat limited as this is my only one I've had although I have plenty of experience with petrol engines and have reassembled those before with no problems.

Everything's plugged in, all lines are on properly, its all timed properly all marks line up, its glowing up getting fuel but will not go.

I sprayed a little bit of aerostart into it today and it sounded like it wanted to go but other than that just winds over.

Just wanting to know anything else I can check or other potential issues something I may have done wrong or something I don't know before I have to send it to the mechanics as patience and time are running low.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

I have pulled timing cover off and checked that all timings marks are lined up. Could pump possibly be 180 out or anything or do they only do 1 rotation

Depends if they are master splined. Spill timing is different from timing marks aligning. Google it.

      2009 Kluger white smoke

      I know there are plenty of posts in regards to my header but... I have removed the rocker cover and cleaned it out, replaced the pcv, removed the plenum and cleaned it out (new spark plugs was the reason for removing fhe plenum), fitted a catch can between the pcv and plenum, new oil filter and oil... but I'm still blowing white smoke on start up and after about 20 minutes of driving and getting pinging (usually hear that and then the smoke comes). If I pull over and let the smoke finish I can drive fine as long as I stay under 2000rpm (or go up a hill too steep). Since I have fitted the catch can I have driven to and from work and on average have about 150ish mls of oil in there. Now I know the smoke on start up is oil sitting in the intake but that should be caught in the catch can.. Any help will be greatly appreciated .

      Did you mean to write: "Not coming up" instead of "Coming up"? If you meant what you wrote, what reason have they come up with? Also, you failed to state the model and engine type of your Camry. All relevant details are necessary for anyone to reply in a meaningful way. Whatever the model, has someone run the codes? OBD1 or OBD2 etc. Jim.

      Hi everyone, just thought I would say thanks for letting me join. I pick up our 1st used 2016 Kluger Grande with 53K on the Odometer in a weeks time. I have researched as much as possible as I'm not a Toyota guru and would appreciate any nice to knows OR things to be aware of regarding mechanical maintenance.       Head unit sd card issue

      Signed up to say thank you. Had a similar problem on my car. Battery died so called someone to replace it. Found that the audio system does not work anymore. STEPS for newbies/non-tech people: 1) Get SD card if you don't have one. Probably from Kmart: SanDisk Ultra MicroSD with MicroSDHC and MicroSDXC Adapter SQUA4 - 32GB - Kmart 2) Downloaded the four files linked by nzkicks 3) Format your SD to FAT32 format and then copy the files across to the SD card 4) Take it to your car. 5) Turn on the engine of your car. Wait for the audio system to say "Program required to load the system" or something like that 6) Insert the SD card 7) It should then ask you for security code. For me, it was last 5 digits of my VIN number. and then it works 😄
