When to change engine oil and ATF

Recommended Posts

I thought that I would share an internet post based upon actual experience of high mileage vehicles and making them last.

What caught my attention was the images posted as a visual guide of when to change engine oil and ATF.

This colour chart definitely does not apply to diesels. You put oil in one with as little as 10,000km and it is almost instantly black.

I thought that I would share the following YouTube video because I agree with his practice of changing the oil filter mid-way through an extended service interval.

I particularly noted his recommendation of reducing the service interval and a higher oil viscosity with the increased mileage.
