3rz starting and performance issue

Had this issue with my 98 hilux 4x4 2.7 petrol engine

Now ive had a strange issue where the hilux will crank over and over again until it starts and coughs into life and smells like its overfueling its harder to start say if its been sitting for a few hours but easier over night?? And say half throttle it will slowly build up revs until 3500rpm and take off like a rocket but be slow and gutless until that rev range. 

Now ive replaced fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, injectors, crank sensor, plugs leads coil packs air flow sensor charcoal canister coolant temp sensor to ECU changed ecu, put a new head on it list goes on and on and on if someone could shed some light on this would be greatly appreciated

Sounds like the camshaft timing is out, like the timing is retarded, its out by a tooth or two
