I have this long wheelbase Toyota Commuter van I have owned for nearly 30 years.

Been a reliable work horse, but I have nowhere to store it now so I have decided to part with it.

It is currently insured with Shannon’s for $5000 but my main concern is it avoids the scrap pile so the price is completely negotiable and I am not expecting anything remotely like its insurance value. Its a salvageable restorer with a bit of work, or it can be wreaked.

It’s perfectly driveable, in fact I still use occasionally it to collect materials for my work.

It’s on full registration till March 2021. And can be driven to a new location.

It has never been involved in a serious accident, but after so many years there are rust problems.

Mechanically it is serviceable but below are listed things that need attention.

The seats that were in the back have been removed.

When I bought it the motor had been transplanted from the std, R18 to a 21R-U cross flow unit from a Celica RA40. Still 2.0 litres, bolts straight to the original 4spd column shift gearbox.

Known prime issues:-

Rust mainly around the roof guttering, and other smaller patches.

Speedo not reading correctly, A GPS speedo supplied. Other gauges work.

Needs new shockers all round, and a good lube. Some bushings are worn.

Heater core is clocked.

Accelerator pump diaphragm in the carby needs replacing.

Rear tailgate seal not so good and the key in this lock not working.

Windshield will need replacing to get RWC

Tyres good, new muffler in March 2020. New battery.

Disk brake front end, (only fitted the last year of this series so not common.)

Rear differential was replaced with a 4.1 unit (up from 4.3) to improve highway cruising.

Parts for these vehicles are still available with a Google search.

I have not cleaned the vehicle for the photos, and the vehicle is sold ‘as is’.
