for you Canberra Folk

Stitt asked me to post this... you are ALL wecome to go as a thankyou for everyone who helped him out

Well

I'd like to put on a cruise and a BBQ to say thanks to everyone that helped out looking for my wagon. Most people gave up alot of time to help me look for it.

So well plans are;

Meet: 11:30 Sunday the 20 of August.

Where: Parliment house (usual CCG meet up point)

Heading: To the cotor region. The planing being head out for a bit of cruise, then pulling up in one of the picnic spots and fire up the barbie.

Cost : $0 i'm putting this one on to say thanks.

If I could get a few RSVP's here that would be great so I've got a rough idea how much meet to buy.

Thanks again to everyone

Stitt

Thanks mate ;) I reckon yours will be better with Germ Light Rims! :) Which size will you go for btw?

They are a strange size...17x7.5 (banGn runs this), but I'm inclinded to ask for 17x7 if possible.

I'll be asking Brian again what he has in terms of profile, I think it's 215/45 which is perfect for 17x7.5 I think

With 17x7, I think it is better to get 205/45 or 215/40 instead. Everyone who has 215/45 said it hits the guard. (according to the research i did B) )

Brian is so low it's not funny. He has a different offset which doesn't rub I think. He is running 215/45

I've gone onto ozhonda sheldon and I'll see if I can grab some second hand from there ;) good prices too. one set went for $900 last I looked :o Few more on there going for $1500, $1200 etc.

Well, so far man I've been looking at the buddyclub P1 sf's in gunmetal or white. Thing is, I'm still obsessed with the Gram Lights man. I'm just going to save I think hahaha.

A 7.5" wheel should wear a 225 tyre running a lower profile to achieve the same rolling circumference.

225's have never scraped for me with a 35mm drop even with 3 in the back so not sure what everyone is on about. I'm on the same rolling circumference as stock. Without running the numbers or checking availibility of tyresregarding a 17 though, not completely sure.

Please jump in and correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeah brian was aware of the correct rolling diameter, he found the 215/45's were a better fit though. 225/35/R18 won't scrape on a 35mm drop. Nor with a 50mm drop.

However, when you're getting into territory that banGn is in (and I'll be heading in once the fecking coilovers are in) you'd be looking @ 65mm drop for us. 225's would rub all over the place man, unless you paid money to box the guard liner and custom roll the guards @ that height. Plus your offset comes into play too.

Fair enough....

Although I'd prob perefer to spend my money upgrading to a WRX, EVO or R34 if I was building something track worthy.... But thats just me.

That's a lot of money man.

I only spent $1350 on the coilovers so far haha. Brian had the D2's and a front strut brace on his car and he was out handling s2000's and WRX's at winton. Down the straight it was a different story of course haha.

I can attest to that too

I've spent roughly $4000 on my car aftermarket and it's starting to open a few eyes on the track. Last time out I put an ST185 celica to shame. I was holding off a series 6 RX7 and passed a series 4 RX7 down the straight. With another ~$4000 to be put into track tyres, brakes, clutch, flywheel and LSD there's still plenty of potential there too ;)

I'm predicing at least a 1:13 around Wakfield Park when that is done :D

It doesn't take much to be spent, it just needs to be spent in the right places ;)

Not saying anyones wrong here and its definately a case of each and everyone to their own but consider:

Single turbo R34 in good condition: 20-25k

Throw 8k at it in mods..... let your imagination do the rest.

By the same token...

MY00, 01, 02 WRX: 15-25k

8k in mods.....

Thats not to say that I don't admire what you guys are doing..... please don't make me out to be a kill joy.
