Hey everyone,

I've been surfing across the internet lately trying to get some specifics, but I haven't quite found what I'm looking for and was hoping someone out there could help.

I have an old 82 Hilux single cab that has on the ID plate that the engine is supposed to be an LN 46

However it isn't, and I'm still yet to identify it completely, it's been narrowed down between a 98' 5L LN172R  or a 5L-E

So I've read the the only difference between a 5L and 5L-E is the injectors, but I was wondering, are the oil filters different aswell? Also in general what are the differences?

If someone could help me out on my lack of knowledge that would be brilliant, I'd love to know exactly what engine I have on my hands,

Thank you

The 5L is mechanical injection and the 5L-E is electronic fuel injection ( has a computer).
