I got a new digital video camera for X Mas but want to do a bit of editing and then copy to DVD. Because it's a Sony and my lap top is not then the ones with the camera don't work.

What's a good program (cheaper the better)

Needs to be easy for a dummy like me.

Pinnacle Studio is nice and easy. Especially the S.E (standard edition) one which usually comes with the camcorder.

It shouldn't matter what brand your laptop is for the software to work.

In my opinion the best free solution is VirtualDub, you can also use Windows Movie Maker (which should already be installed on your computer if you're using Windows XP) but I prefer VirtualDub.

I've got a Sony camera, not sure how you saved the movies (on a Memory Stick or MiniDV) but if you can import the movie to your hard drive then you should be able to work it out from there.
