Hi,

My drivers side lumbar support recently let go, one side at a time, as I was adjusting it. So I am wondering if it is possible to remove the plastic panel on the back of the seat, to see if the failure is terminal.

Thanks,

Shane.

Hi Shane, That is a weird issue as I have never had an issue with the lumbar support, I hope others can offer advise as pulling the seat apart wont be easy I assume to get to the support, and not a job I would want to tackle myself. I would be checking out anything you can find online as to the interior set up of the seat, if I recall right I did watch a video done by The Car Car Nut who is a Master Toyota Tech on you tube on changing the seat covers so it may offer some info.

Let us know what the outcome is mate

I managed to fix this issue for my Aurion.

I followed the seatback removal procedure as per the workshop manual (https://toyotamanuals.gitlab.io/RMGSV40-07/rmGSV40-07/TRD_ref.html).

I opened up the motor and found that there is nylon double gear (32 teeth / 10 teeth) after the worm gear, which broke apart. I would suspect this is the likely cause of most failures, as it is a weak point given the other gears are metal. I was unable to find a replacement gear in that size and ended up purchasing a replacement motor.

The below is the lumbar motor you will need, part number 85820-06060.

Hope this information helps, good luck everyone.
