Hey guys,

This topic has been kinda talked about here and there in various topics but I thought that I should start a discussion on what you guys reckon is a good tyre for our car. Should take into consideration value for $$$ as well as handling etc.

I've heard recently that Sumitomo's were pretty good. Not sure which model but the guy told me that they stick pretty well to the road.

Any other experiences and reviews?

michelin pilot sports?!?! :P

Have you used them before? Or did you suggest them cos they are known to be really expensive?

yes, i have used them before. and yes stupidly expensive. it is a grippy tyre. but not for the money u pay for it.

the second set we had on that car were some crappy pirellis tho.

Hey Guys,

Wheels Magazine did a tyre test in the April 2004 issue.

They tested 195/60/15 and 205/50/16 in 6 categories.

Cornering,Slalom,Dry Traction,Wet Traction,Wet Braking,Dry Braking.

The 205/50/16 are suitable for the stock Stivo rims.

And the winners overall for 16 " are :

1st : Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 $295rrp

2nd : Michelin Pilot Preceda $251

3rd : Yokohama V102 $282

4th : Pirelli P Zero Nero $399 :o

5th : Dunlop Direzza DZ101 $214

6th : Firestone FH700 $216

7th : BF Goodrich G-Force Sport $216

8th : Bridgestone Potenza GIII $217

9th : Kumho Ecsta KH11 $235

Cheers

Tim.

I am using 205 16" 50 F1 GSD3 Thailand made...

-little bit nosiy compare to standard rolla stivo tyres.

-Good in wet, give you trust during rainy days. :P

-corners OK, tyres will scream before it reach the limit, easy to predict, great control feeling.

-donno about tyres wearing as my tyres still very new, but compound feel soft, I assume it won't last that long.

i am using toyo R1R 16"........

advantages:

very nice grip

the thread pattern looks awesome

no screaaakkkkking sounds at sharp corners

still grip well on wet roads

disadvantage:

its actually make ur car slower at traffic light

wear out faster than stock tyres, but still very good

price

highly recommended
