central locking system not working
I would take the car to an alarm installer or auto electrician and ask them. I don't believe that about the ecu(computer thing). I know from experience that some keys need only to be near the chip in the steering column, to deactivate the immobilser, there is another chip inside the key, Unscrew the screws in the key and it will open up you can see what's inside. The actual metal key just unlocks the steering lock in older cars and engages the starter. (New cars use a start button) If the old key worked the central locking and the new Toyota dealer key does not that means they haven't coded the key properly. Get an expert second opinion, if they agree Toyota messed up I would try to sort things out with them. If you have another original key see if it operates the central locking. My Corolla sportivo has an alarm fitted to it, so to lock and unlock the car, I can just use the alarm button fob on the keyring -

central locking system not working
I had to get a new key for my Toyota from the Toyota dealer which was $500 and was told they couldn't get the central locking part to work because the (computer thing ) in the engine that it works through has died and a new part would cost me $900.00 plus labor. this seems outrageously expensive to me, I have a key that now doesn't do what it is supposed to do. does anyone have any suggestions of cheaper options. Heather. -

ACR30 Leaking sunroof
Hi my 2001 ACR 30 has the dual sunroofs. Cleaned all drain channels and checked all fittings on both trays but finding it very hard to pinpoint down where leaks are coming from. I suspect mine has had a windscreen replaced at some stage as close inspection revealed poor sealing - I added silicone to side areas of the glass and this helped reduce water ingress into floor areas but the main leak is from the front left and I'm quite stumped to locate the source. Best I can do is to keep a small tarp handy and keep the vehicle covered at night. Any advice very welcome. Thanks Adam -

Pinging issue - 2001 Previa (Tarago) ACR30
Hi Tony Thanks for that advice. yes engine was enchanged for a rebuilt one about 30,000 ago. I don't know if it was docked but that is likely in a reco. I hadn't considered that. Thats helpful to know. From what I understand the timing is set and cant be adjusted - is that correct? Cheers -

2019 Camry Hybrid SL parking sensors are hopeless
Well, it's now 2023 and I still have that parking sensor kit in my garage. Been too busy with other projects and I didn't want to void the car's warranty. Now the car is out of warranty (I think) I might revisit fitting the kit. -

Leaving a Camry Hybrid at the airport for 10 weeks?
Hi all, I will be going away for around 10 weeks next year over the colder months and intend driving to Sydney Airport and leaving my SL in long stay airport parking. I think this model (2019) has NiMH batteries? As normal NiMH batteries slowly self discharge over time is it advisable to leave the car parked for that long? I believe that Toyota has software in the car to compensate for that but I'm concerned that I might have problems when I get back. Will that long time have any bad effects on the battery? Thanks. -

Hiace Passenger airbag retrofit ?
Hi, I have just bought an Hiace LWB 4x4 from Japan 2019. It has driver side airbag in steering wheel but no passenger airbag in dash ( just a glove box ) Does anyone know if an airbag could be retrofitted to dash ? has anyone done this before ? is it simply a matter of plugging it in or too much trouble / cost ? Thank you in advance for any help, Nat.
