I have a new 2024 Rav 4 cruiser hybrid. My question is: Do you stick to the recommended 0W-18 oil (although, our dealers all use 0W-20) or do you go with 5W-30, which is included as compatible in the owners manual. The reason I'm asking is that in the 300 series they also recommend the low viscosity oil (0W-20), but many owners are getting their service people to use 5W-30, as it will prolong the life of the engine in our hot climate, particularly, in their case because they tow.

Most importance reference material is the owner's manual for your specific vehicle for the recommended oil viscosity and oil specifications.

Learn/know the engine details and model code for the engine fitted to your specific vehicle.

Something else to consider that the same engine model are upgraded/refined over the years. Particularly consider the vehicle operating conditions e.g. freezing mornings with low temperatures

When you have those details then do your own research.

Personally, I mainly use the lube guides by Penrite and Nulon for ready reference. https://penriteoil.com.au/product-selector?by=Quick Search#/recommendations
