The cvt in the corolla seems a bit sluggish and I can feel gear changes, I have a Subaru XV with a cvt and it's completely different, does the corolla trans need a service or is it dying, regards Chris

Never owned or serviced a CVT.

However in my previous research of CVTs, I noted that they require regular changes of fluid as a preventative maintenance measure.  

Based upon what you have reported, certainly appears that the CVT will benefit from a fluid change.
