I have a 05 Zze and I have a issue where the tailgate plastic trim slaps against the body and rattles, any tips to make it sit flush like normal or to kill the noise, I have bought 3 new ones and have the same issue each time, 100000% sure it’s causing the issue as I put a couple spots of blutac as a softener and the noise is gone for but I want it to sit flush like it used to.

I feel your pain. I've had issues like that in the past and it drives me mental.

I doubt you'll ever get it to sit flush and have zero clearance without gluing it on, which is impractical, but My solution would be to buy a roll of double sided tape, say 20 or 30mm wide and 1mm thick and cut out strips and stick the pieces either to the back of the plastic panel or to the metal tailgate. Leave the other side unpeeled and this will act as an insulator and stop the loose plastic interference slapping the metal. Also, while you have it off, check for any wiring loom in there that could also be a source of rubbing or slapping the inners.

Apply the pieces to the majority area of the flat section. That's where you noise will be the greatest.

Hope that helps. Let us know how you go.

Well, you could quite easily try my method first before ditching it all together. It's a functioning piece with some aesthetic. Note the grab area to place your hands to help you pull the tail gate down.
If it doesn't bother you how it looks or functions, then by all means remove it. Put it in a safe place incase you sell the vehicle. The prospective buyer would probably be turned off if it's missing.

Do I use double sided tape or foam tape? I’ll give it a shot it’s just I’ve tried so much

Doesn't matter really. As long as it's not to thick to affect fitment of the panel. The idea is to dampen the vibration.
