I’ve been buying RON95 petrol, as recommended by the owners manual. But I’ve been told RON98 would be better for my engine in the long run. Is this the case?

I heard one person started getting stains on the inside of his garage roof and he uses RON98 petrol. Could this be from the petrol or from something else? Could the brand of petrol be relevant?

Hi Peter,

As I understand it using a higher RON rated fuel does not do any harm, other than to your wallet. The quoted use of RON 95 is just that you don't use a lower grade, like RON 91.

I've never heard of any petrol causing stains in garages, other than black soot under where the exhaust is.
