I recently purchased a power windows control unit for my 2001 Camry Azura to replace the original.  The replacement unit (from a wreckers) is from a 2001 Camry "non-Azura" model.

When I went to install the unit, I discovered the connecting wiring was different.  Further examination showed that the circuit board was also different.

The original circuit board includes details regarding the function of each pin. Using this information, wire colouring, and multimeter testing, I have mapped what I believe to be the correct setup.

This I would like to check against a wiring diagram if someone has one available.  Those I have located online do not match either wiring setup.

Thanking you for any help you can provide.

What would be the difference between Azura models and non Azura models that would warrant a different power window unit ?

Sometimes wreckers can make mistakes and mix parts up with wrong year models and just given you the wrong part.

I can't see how an Azura which is probably a trim upgrade from a stock Camry, carry a totally different power window controller. Why would Toyota invest money in reinventing another controller essentially for the same car ?

I wish I could help, but there doesn't seem to be much info out there on the subject. One would assume they're all the same if it's from the same generation of Camry.

Thanks Tony.  I actually took the controller out of the vehicle which was marked as a 2001 model.  It was my 2nd visit as I removed one from another vehicle (marked 2001) where I discovered the difference in wiring.  I will head back a third time and check the compliance plate of the vehicles I removed them from for dates of manufacture and model numbers. My vehicle is an Azura MCV20R built 08/2001.

Also, I noticed Bunnings has a "Master Power Window Switch for Toyota Camry SXV20 and MCV20 1997-2001" for not much more than I paid at the wreckers.  Might be a better option .... as long as the wiring matches!!

Bunnings selling car parts now ? Wow ! They want to put everyone out of business it seems. Now they're going after the humble auto shop owner. I wonder what's next ?

Yeah, get what you can as long as the wiring matches up. Still not sure why there would be two different controllers essentially for the same model. Doesn't make sense unless it for the next gen model that might be starting 2001.

Anyway, I wish you good luck with it and all the best.

Let us know how it works out.

Resolved.  I think you have it right, Tony.

The non-matching part came from a Camry XV20 built 04/2000.

While at the wreckers, I checked out the circuit board in a switch from an Avalon 10 built 01/2003.  It had the same pin details marked on the board as mine - though the wiring colours were different.  Plugged it in and all now working.

Thanks for the forum support.
