Hi all, I bought a 2016 diesel rav4 from the damaged car auction, it appears someone went off road and did some damage under the car , the subframe on the passenger side and the 2 brackets that hold it were damaged which was an easy fix but unfortunately they also damaged the oil cooler for the transmission and kept driving it till it stopped , when we took the oil pan off we found metal in the filter so the transmission was toast, we found a replacement trans and fitted it as well as a new oil cooler and after a wheel alignment and a good once over she was registered and good to go. Now the problem i'm having is that I have an information light come up which states " AWD system malfunction ,2WD engaged visit your dealer " and of course it goes into limp mode. We scanned it and it said that the EGR valve was at fault so we checked it out and yes the valve was not great so we replaced it , what the EGR valve has to do with an AWD system malfunction is a bit of a mystery but ok. Then I was driving one evening and braked to do a left hand turn off of the highway , it was moderate braking , not just a touch but not hard either and the same warning came up again, we rescanned it but it was the same fault so was advised to see the dealer. Before I book the car in for any work ( i assume the dealer has better scan tools ) i was wondering if anybody here has any experience with this fault and what it could be ?  I was thinking just after i finished writing this , would the transmission need to be programed into the cars computer in the same way as new injectors need to be ?

      speakers 2020 Hilux

      Hi there, I'm new and have made a search on my 2020 hilux speakers but nothing comes up. Not sure if I'm doing it wrong. Anyway Mr Google is unhelpful and even Toyota doesn't release this info to the public so thought I'd try here. My 4 speakers have blown. That means, I've checked the fuses and power to the speaker in the driver door panel and all good. I'm going to assume all other wiring to the speakers will be good too but for now one door card off is enough. The speaker is not ok and I've used a multimeter in accordance with Mr Google. Tweeters are still working so can I assume the amplifier is ok? I have priced Toyota replacement speakers but what is the specifications on them? Toyota didn't know. The price is $118 per speaker so I thought I'd look at what is available and perhaps better sound?? But if I don't know specifications I won't know if aftermarket speakers will blow the amp ans I can't find specs on the amp either. Ideally I'd like to upgrade the speakers without upgrading the amp. Does anyone have any info to share on this?

      Front Wheel Hub Bearings...

      Yes Sir indeedy. I must say that the engine is pristine, even for 170K old now. The engine bay and engine still presents like new. The only parts I've ever replaced were the serpentine belt, tensioner pulley and idler pulley. It's had two batteries and the routine oil and oil/air filters. Coolant has also been done. Plugs are still factory and showing no sign of any misfire issue. Original alternator, air conditioning compressor etc. It's never really had any invasive repairs. I must say that Toyota really sharpened their pencils when they designed the 50 series. I believe it to be the best of the last of the most reliable Toyota's ever made. The Camry V6 which replaced the Aurion after production of the Aurion ended. in my opinion, doesn't hold up to the 50 series Aurion. I'm happy to be correct on that but I am confident that my 50 series Aurion will see less issues than that of the XV70 Camry V6 and sadly the newer cars are just getting worse in terms of quality. 2017 was the peak of Toyota Quality in my opinion. 😄😄

      Red Liquid In Catch Can

      Fuel, red or any other colour it has no business being in the catch-can. A catch-can is used to capture engine oil vapour etc.

      Brake issues

      No growling, no noise. Very smooth. No hard braking either. This is also why I was so amazed when I found chunks missing out of the pads.

      South Africa Vs Japan Build

      I have a 2003 corolla Plated South Africia , and the throttle body needs replacing , l have contacted several wreckers and when l tell them it is plated South Africia built , no one seems to have anything , is there a difference ? between a Japanese built to a South Africian built Corolla ? in 2003

      Vibration

      Hi all, I have a 2008 Kluger FWD that is vibrating under load , new engine mounts , new plugs , Trans service ,can coast ok then under load vibrates. Any thoughts ? Trans?

      200 series Sahara Pre-collision system malfunction

      Members 1 First Name:Peter Toyota Model:Landcruiser Sahara Year: 2017 Location: Western Australia Posted January 21, 2024 We have the same problem. 2017 Landcruiser Sahara. I have been to a dealership who said they fixed it. They thought it was a wiring connector malfunction next to the windscreen rear view mirror. The problem returned after 6 months. They showed me how to reset the "limp mode" when it happens. Close all doors. Turn on engine. Turn off engine. Lock the car using the key switch. Unlock the car using the key switch. Repeat this two (2) more times. (total of 3 times). The system resets, the messages disappear, the car is out of "limp mode". This is great, except at the moment the problem returns about 20 minutes later. Yes, it is frustrating but worst of all, depending on who you talk to, dealers included, everyone has a different solution, but nobody has the final solution. At least, I have been told that I can keep driving the car whilst this error is displayed as long as I am aware that the pre-crash system won't work. I must say that otherwise, I think this car is an absolute beauty. Does anyone have a magic answer? Peter Lanski, did you get a magic remedy from anyone? Have had the same issue, takes out cruise including of course adaptive, lane departure, Does not derate the engine, Not sure I've done this properly being 1st time on this forum club. Pete.B. WA

      New to Toyota Owners Club

      Hi all Just thought I post my 2000 Prado 3.4L, 5 Speed Manual, 352xxx kms, LSD, Dual tanks (not the SUB pump into main) Still got some suspension work to do on it and tyres but goes well. Just installed 2x solar panels on the roof cage (still have a 3rd as a fold out) and future upgrades is wheels, winch bullbar and exhaust. It's just gonna be more of a tourer/mild 4WD so not gonna throw too much at it Cheers
