and the answer is... *cough* bangn ?

I launch just under 4000rpm on the stock clutch. I tried 4500, but I found I was just burning the clutch for no reason. A heavy duty clutch and slicks may allow for higher launching revs.

id like 2 save as much clutch as possible haha

but yea, ive tried launching at 4 and get heaps of wheel spin

depends where you are launching .. street or strip ..

obviously strip coz we would never launch hard on a public road ........

last time as WSID I launched at 3500 and it felt really good .. my second run was at 4100ish .. and I spun it big time ..

next time at wsid im gonna try 3700-3800 and dont drop the clutch as quick .

i drop at about 4K and get good pull! no spin

Somethign tells me there is going to be some serious competition next wednesday LOL

We can then tell you what the perfect launch is.

5000-5500 rpm also yO !

on a stock clutch too, and after 60xxx kms later its still going strong :)

I am in agreeance with Brian and Will... I drop at 5000-5500, still going hard on the stock clutch :D

blue stivo did u say drop OUCH for the clutch, or u ride it out. Im hesitant to do this as i have seen many bunny hop there way :P :P :P . Dropping the clutch is the only way

Posted

I ride it slightly, but it's pretty much a straight drop. You just need a feel for the cars friction point and give a small hesitation there and plant the right boot at the same time :D

The perfect launch is around 17-1800 rpm, doesent wear out the cluch, and you get good fuel consumption....were you talking about daily driving?

this is all preparation for them heading out to WSID next week and the Qld people to Willowbank on the weekend after ;)

but what Lucio says is ideal for the street :)

The best wway i found to launch my 1zz was frm punching the throttle then riding the clutch slightly and drop it like dylan said.

I found that holding a certain rev range slows my 60ft" time down

I think the thread is referring to launching on the drag strip

Hey Carlo?, it looks like your car has gained a few pounds, might be time to take her out for a run :P

As for the drag strip, they launch like crap on a stock clutch, no turque down low, get someone to push ya!!

 That's ok, it did some high altitude training on the weekend. It's fit enough

What tyres are you running???? What suspension do you have??? These 2 factors alone can determine what RPM you can launch at and get good hook up or lots of wheelspin.

If your on stock suspension with stock tyres or just springs then it's a bit of a fine line.

Or if your a crazy man and weigh like 50kgs so you don't have to take any weight out of your car hey Wei Wei :P :P Then you'll run the numbers you may want.

Coilovers/upgraded suspension and good sticky tyres will go a long way to not having to give your clutch a hiding cause you can launch at good general RPM(about 3500 -4000 if your cautious) and get hook up.

you can launch at higher RPM but it's only a matter of time.....

b4 the clutch goes...'bye bye now'

...and c'mon guys i dont weigh 50! kgs...more like 58 kgs :P
