My opinon is:

Type R speakers demand power. Standard head unit won't do justice for that speaker.

Type R Frequency respond:

35hz to 30khz

This tells u the bass can respond as low as 35hz. This characterise deep and powerful bass but to get it u need an amplifier that supply enough power. You don't need to go all crazy, meeting its nominal power is the minimum but of course if you can give more power the better the midbass will be.

Typical of deep, powerful bass that can play at such low frequency - requires lots of power.

More than power, you would also need to look at the quality of the amplifier itself.

Dynamat is awesome.

Don't buy it from an audio shop unless they have a sale; the mark up is ridiculous. I got a box of 20 square feet (5 sheets of 4sq ft) for $170 at a sale, and a second box a couple of months ago off eBay for $165. Shops normally sell it for $270+. Ridiculous.

I used G-Spot sound deadener last time, but I was applying it during a hot summer day. Just leave it in the sun and you don't need a heat gun lol.

Anyways, if for most people you believe that its too expensive to use sound deadener. The very least you could do is cover up the service holes with some tape and pieces of cutout MDF. Makes a huge difference to bass response.

I went overboard with my conquest corolla, I sound deadened the inside and outside panel and also applied a layer of foam on the door trim. After that I didn't see the point of a subwoofer and everytime I close my door it gives a nice THUD.
