 The police said they can do nothing. @#$%^*&

The insurance excesses is $500. What do your guys reckon? there is a hole in the panel. Do you think it cost more than 500 to fix? :help:

call a panelbeater.

My guess is it would cost around $400-600 to fix that damage seeing how it's an easy colour to spray.

thats full suspicious man.

its as if they damage your car just so that you end up paying them to repair it.

too convenient that they drop a business card on your window like that

yeah i know!!!

Man sorry to hear about that.

Just putting a business card on the windscreen with nothing written behind it is just rude and low. He could of changed his mind when he was driving to work and now is just playing "dumb".

People like that are scum. Yeah go to the place on the business card see in the parking spots if there are any damaged cars with white paint on them, but even that it would be hard to prove...

Thats pretty sad! they probably though hey i need some business i'll smash this car and leave a card lol

Hope you find the people who did it!

As mentioned earlier, it prolly wouldn't cost more than 4 or 5 hundred to fix, so I would go and get a couple of quotes, and if the price came in under your excess, then unfortunatly it sounds like you have to cop the loss.

If the quotes all come in over your excess, then insurance looks the best option.

Unfortunatly, whether the dude that left the card is responsible or not, you need burdon of proof before the insurance company will persue it. This means either a witness or other suitable evidence to prove he is reponsible.

I know it sounds suss that he just happen to leave a card under your windscreen, but this is, like it or not, a business stradegy for businesses to promote. Landscapers do it after sever storms that uproot peoples gardens, electricians do it after electrical storms and yes, lawyers do it at car accidents.

If the dude was walking past and saw the smashed car, and he had his cards, then a smart business mind would think to leave a card...you leave 20 cards and get one job, it's one job you wouldn't have otherwise got.

Sure, suss out their own cars, however if it was a staff member from this place, I am sure that there's would have been the next car through the shop already and you would never have seen the damage...

Unfortunatly, this sounds like a situation where you may just have to cop one on the chin.....

:D I talk with my neighbour last night. It really help me :)

My neighbour told me that my car was hit by a rubbish truck and yeah the paint left in my car is similar to that colour in the rubbish truck. It is the Darebin city counsil. I will contact police and my insurance company later. Hopefully I don't need to pay the $500. And yes the truck was there yesterday because the holiday, they change the timetable. I just put in a new alarm in my car. It is the alarm wake my neighbour up.

Btw, the man who left the business card in my windscreen is one of my neighbour. I believe he is not the guy as I park the car for more than 1 year. no problem what so ever.

Anyway :whistling: Thanks for all your guys help. really appreciated. I will let your guys know what happen next. It is not a good time to deal with it as it is new year. no one is working :(

 I call the insurance first, they said they need the registration number of that truck. Then I call police they told me that I should call the city counsil. Then I call the city counsil they are not working and lady in an emergency phone said this is not emergency. ##$%%^ WTF, What can I do now? If the city counsil refuse to admit and fix their truck, I can not get evident of that. Oh, I just don't know WTF is that. I got the witness but I can't do anything. the police wont help me. :(

 At the end of the day, it was me who is a police and investigator. where is the people who suppose to help me. I paid tax and insurance. They just ask me to do this an that. WTF. I just

Call up the council on the normal number and ask them for the roster of who was driving down your street at that particular time.

Then request the rego of the car.

Your neighbour is the witness to the situation, i personally do not believe there is a need to ID the licence plate as there realistically should be ONLY one garbage truck doing the route that passed through your street at that particular time.

Provided your neighbour is prepared to sign a statement saying he/she saw the Garbage truck with a Darebin City council logo on it at the particular time and date, the insurance company should be able to match it up without any issues.

The garbo should also be reprimanded for hit and run.

Yeah, I totally agree with you. I call the council but they are not working sunday. My case is not an emergency one therefore they can not help until next Tuesday.

I agree that it should be only one truck responsible without the licence plate. I can give them the time, location, witness, etc. Why I as a customer need to find out the licence plate of that truck? It is not my job. That is why i pay the insurance and tax. They suppose to do their job. But the fact is they just wait me to inspect everything. And I believe they hit and run, that is illegal, right? I am new to this country(just finish my study), I just don't understand that. I can understand without witness and clue, they can do nothing. But now, my friendly neighbour is the witness and it definitely the truck. They still ask me to find out the number plate. It is ridiculous base on my culture and experience. :o

Thanks man. Last time I call the police, they suggest that I call the counsil back nex Tuesday and don't go through the formal report. the officer reckon it waste more time to do that. Oh, I just love my rolla and hate it leave damage like that and I can not do anything. :(

:( Just car insurance is rubbish, the man who answer my phone insist that I need to contact the city counsil. I just  and argue with him. This is the first time i deal with insurance company. And the customer service of Just Car is Sh!t. They just keep telling me to provide the registration number but I said I can give you the time location and witness. But they don't even interest in the detail of that information and that is fair enough. Will not use their insurance next time. I believe so far I can give them the witness and reponsible party "Darebin city counsil", that is enough. OKay. I deal with them by myself next tuesday. But I won't choose them next time. If the counsil refuse to give me the detail, I will try formal report to the police. What a new year.

I've been reading your "progress" on the incident. As mentioned before a certain truck should be doing the same rubbish route, and I'd say for certain there HAS to be a record at the Council of which truck did which route on a particular day. So all you have to do is get your neighbour to sign a statutory declaration stating he saw a city council rubbish truck hit your car on that day and it should be good to go

Yeah, I probably need more patience here and go through all the procedure. As I mention before, I am not quite familiar with this country and things like that. Thanks for your help. Any support is essential to me. I heard of statutory declaration before but is it need to be done under the witness of people like "police officer" etc? Or just sign it? the problem is my neighbour told me that if anyone contact her, she will happy to told them what happen that day. And she give me her name and working contact phone number. As I rent a house there, not really very know each other before this incident. I don't know whether it is appropriate to ask her to make that declaration and whether it is necessary before I contact the city council by myself. I am really tired of dealing with this problem after the whole procedure of it. I just feel alone and no one gonna to help me out. Every party involve here seem not want to do any job physically. They just keep tell me to investigate and find everything they need. Indeed, I feel lack of power as I am oversea student here.

May be I should calm down and wait until the holiday finish. Then I can give the council a call and try to get the registration number to my insurance company. If not, I will try the police. At the end of the day, if I still can't prove anything, I just spend that $500 and fix my lovely rolla.

Any one have experience with those two repairer before?

Get in touch with the counsil when u can and work out what their process is for them damaging ur car and how to get it fixed and if possible try and get the truck details out of them.

A few years back those guys that cut the grass for the council where doing that as i drove past and he flicked up a whole bunch of tarmac onto my car and damaged the paint in a few places. What ended up happening is i got all his details called the counsil they told me to put it in writing and i posted the complaint to them with 3 quotes. The complaint bascially detailed the situation and i put pictures of the damage. Within 2 weeks i had a cheque for the lowest quote ...... no insurance engaged nothing ....

Now the key thing here is i had the guy cutting the grass give me all his details etc and so they had admitted fault from the beginning so ur going to have to see what u can get out of them.

 Thanks for your help. Yeah, They may not admit as I really don't know what exactly is the truck yet. But I will try at least I got a witness. Your are right and probably the council may do it like the way they did to you. Let's see what happen when I call them tuesday. If they don't admit, I will give police a try. As I got comprehensive, I really don't worry much. Just want my car back to before. I really feel tired of dealing with them.
