tyre pressure

I run 36psi front, and 34psi rear- 2 psi less coz the back skates around a little when cornering on bumpy roads (surburban and outer urban) and a little less makes for more bite.

I'd go for 36 front and rear if your high speed driving is mostly smooth.

I believe this pressure gives the best compromise between: wet grip, cornering grip (without too much sidewall roll) and tyre life.

My car has coverd 34500 kays, and I reckon I will get 40k out of the set of factory tyres, which I think is pretty fair, as the kays have not always been the 'tyre friendly' kind :P

Tyre pressures are a personal thing!!

Thats just my 10c worth, I'd be interested to hear what others are running, and why.

the tyre placard on zze122 states 220 which is 32 psi for front and rear

the tyre placard on zze123 also states 220 which is 32 psi for front and rear.

The pressure you should run will depend entirely on the type of tyre you have on your wheels. You will usually find that the higer performance tyres are meant to be inflated to higher pressures, eg the Pilot Preceda's on one of my cars are meant to be inflated to 55psi, which is what I run them at. The tyre placard on that car states 35psi. The tyres have all round better performance when inflated to the manufacturers specifications.

I did a defensive/advance driving course yesterday, and they recommend road tyres to be 40psi for all sizes, to reduce tire flexing (from a purely safety point of view)

I will dig out the notes later about why it should be 40PSI

Another thing is, when you pump your tyres, use your own PSI-meter, because the one at the servo is inaccurate (you will notice it if you get 3 separate readngs using the same meter, it will most probably show different values each time
