Golf R32 FTW :toast:

Drove my girlfriends new R32 for the first time last night, and I can definitely agree with you there. Awesome.

As a few have mentioned, the shape will probably grow on me, and as SB mentioned to me last night, there is nothing that a few well chosen cosmetic mods wont fix. At least Honda has removed their Toyota style cardigan and are actually bringing the car here.

EVO magazine from UK titled the new Civic Type R as king of hot hatch.

R32 doesn't cut the mustard, they prefer GTi because its less expensive and offer not much of a difference performance. In fact GTi is second in this contest, first being the Type R.

Why Type R? They said because its the most well balance hot hatch. They don't even fancy the MPS.

Now lift is 5200rpm too, and sail your way to 8200rpm or so.

In Europe however, it is cheaper than most of the hot hatch.

Hmmm.. at 40-45K my preference would be to go with a vw gti or an mps3 with a load more torque.

This car only has marginally more power than a sportivo right ?

id second that..

similar power but much more torque.

Golf R32 FTW :toast:

you do realise the R32 Golf is about 15k more then the CTR predicted price

The three-door Type R hatchback is powered by a 2.0-litre with 148kW at 7800 revs paired with a six-speed manual transmission. Pricing won’t be announced until mid-year.

It takes over the superseeded DC5R...so its price will be the low 40K mark...

I've expressed interest and will be test runnin it!! ^_^

you cant compare the type r with our sportivos ,it has 7 more kws and touch more torque but its chassis ,suspension, running gear is totally different and it has much more acceleration then you think 7 kws would give ,plus its lighter. This car is prolly the hottest hatch and being na makes it even better coz it sticks with the wrx,mps etc on any track anyday if not fatser lap times

Don't hold your hopes out on it being $40k for the UK version. Are they sending something cheap and nasty here?. This was only reported mid February.

Read this

"One Honda insider revealed to GoAuto

that a fully loaded British-built Civic i-Shift

hatchback could nudge $70,000 by the time

it lands in Australia, effectively rendering it

unsaleable.

However, this does not necessarily mean

that a Civic hatchback will not be offered over

the next two years.

According to Honda Australia managing

director and CEO Toshio Iwamoto, the threedoor

Civic Type-R might be released in

Australia, as a limited-volume sports hatch.

The Type-R uses a 2.0-litre i-VTEC engine

that produces 147kW at 7800rpm and 192Nm

at 5600rpm.

The Civic Type-R would occupy the same

sector that the cult 1999 Integra Type R

abandoned in 2001."

I saw this at the Motor Show, I have to say I like it alot.

First impression is that it's stance makes it look as wide as it is long. The bonnet is very short and the windscreen almost follows the same line as the bonnet making it look like a wedge.

Seeing the other hatches on offer at the show, this looks two generations newer.

Remember to make it cheaper for Aust, all they have to do is remove a few things. For example Ford with it's Focus XR5 that comes from Germany (I think?) removed alot of little things like projector beam lights etc, but kept the important things in the package such as the recaro seats etc.

Honda will follow the same sort of line, to keep the price competitive but retain the good bits of the package.

i saw it in the metal too...n yes...i like it a lot too!!

but i must say the lancer concept too....phoar!! i like a lot too!!

Its good to see, finally some good sharp lines pushing new car styling to some much higher levels!! A lot of new cars coming out just look too damn sexy!! >_<

According to the April issue of Wheels, this is going to have a torsion beam rear axle

yap..thats what i heard too..that it had torsion beam rear axle...apparently honda was cutting cost :(

It does the job though.

Much like Z06 shocking leaf spring, but happens to corner as good as ferrari. Outdated technology can still delivers satisfactory job.

well my friend has paid a deposit on a brand new nighthawk black CTR due to arrive in june/july.

the price he will pay for it is roughly $47,000 inc. orc, stamp duty etc

so in other words about $47K drive away

at this point in time, i understand that honda will only be bringing in silver, red and black ctr's
