Some dyno figures;

#1 10-12-2005

garage_gallery-245-1134188904.jpg

This one was running very rich, as seen in the AFR curve. This was found to be caused by the little plastic laminar air flow generator (don't know its real name) in the intake falling off and confusing the MAF sensor.

#2 18-03-2006

dyno18032006.jpg

#3 19-08-2006 (AT=22*C)

dyno19082006.jpg

Not a bad gain for having the right AFR's  (Also cleaned the MAFS before hand ;) )

#4 20-10-2007 (note the intake temp :o)

For the first dyno the car was sluggish and felt flat. Like I was driving around with an extra 200kg. On the rare occasion it would actually go into lift (instead of cutting all fuel into the engine) the car just didn't move. At least if anyone else has this problem it can be easily solved.

For the second dyno the dude driving it stopped at like 7200rpm and was the worst of my 3 runs. I think I would have got about 105kW on that pull, maybe as high as 107kW if I didn't have heat soak. Not saying that place was bad, just I should have told them it can go all the way out with no problems.

For the third dyno the car drives smooth as after cleaning the MAF. Just remembered I also fitted my DIY earth kit after the second dyno.

Fifth dyno is with a PowerFC and nothing else

Sixth dyno is with the addition of Piper Stage 2 cams, no other engine mods added.

Video of the 4th dyno sheet.

man Dave that little plastic bit made a huge difference to the curves. The torque hole between cams was eccentuated severly there

Some lovely angles Dave. Action shots don't really impress me, it's the conceptualisation of shots. You have vision man. I dig vision.

Thanks. I still have a few more ideas to try out ;)

About the owner: I'm hoping to become a Civil Engineer to fund my car stuff.

Good career choice Dave, for some reason most Civil Engineers that I have met are into cars one way or another. Both my current Site Engineer and Project Manager have cars that give just under 300kW at the rear wheels (one uses 1.2L and sodding big hair dryer and the other uses a bucket load of cubic inches which equate to 6.0L).

Hi

I'm new to the board, hailing from the sunny isle of Trinidad and Tobago. I'm switching my ride from Honda to Toyota :whistling: , so I v'e just bought a 2003 JDM Toyota Corolla Runx Z Aero Tourer which will arrive in March directly from Japan, so i'm doing a little research in the mean time.

I will have a lot of questions so I hope you guys will help me out!

1: Is the "JDM" Runx the same as the Sportivo in terms of horse power, I know the JDM models usually have a little more

2: What is the average 1/4 mile time for the Sportivo/Runx in stock form? I see most are low 15", is that stock?

3: Is there a supercharger kit for the Runx

More questions coming soon.

Hey mate,

Welcome and hope you enjoy ur stay with us! :D

Looking from the add...it looks as though the JDM is the same as the Sportivo in regards to power.

Slip times for the Qtr mile...i don't know...have a look around on the forum and i'm sure you'll find out pretty quick. Same goes for info on Supercharger kits for the Rolla. ;)

dave i like ur taste in the wheels and coils mate

top choice ;)

ps. since u go tracking often, u should specify some stiffer spring rates when u do get the zero 2 ;) or another option is the c1 coils which have 8k rates all around

Posted

Since I'm a poor student it maybe a while till I get the coils. Unless you know where I can get some cheap second hand ones.

I'll have to look into the differences between the C-One and the Zero 2's one day.

Looks like I got my Zero 2's sooner rather than later :D

In order to verify* if they were zero 2's it turns out that the follow cars share the same front struts (00b 60s s02a, this does not mean they will fit!);

Mirage: CJ4A, CA4A

Silvia: S15, S14, S13

180sx: RS13

FTO: DE3A

Cefiro: A31

Laurel: C33

Startlet: EP82-91

Runx/Allex: NZE121

Levin/Trueno: AE111, AE101

However the rears are NZE121 exclusive :toast:

Don't know if this information is helpful in anyway, but it is there for the taking.

Also have made a lot of updates around the thread to make things neater.

(*varification was done since mine are a different colour to that of all the others I have seen)

You got zero 2's also Rob? Or am I talking to Nelson?

Can't wait for them to go in. Thanks to BanGn for originally importing them :P and thanks to Wei Wei and friend for selling them to me, I would also like to thank Satan for buying my soul so I could afford these.

This is Rob yeah dude. I don't have zero 2's no :(

But I have D2's. They'll do the job just fine. Not overly fussy but I'd grab Zero 2's if I had an endless supply of money.

D2's are still good. I have never been in a car that has Zero 2's, but in DHC's car the car would fly through corners, felt better than standard SuperWagon's (in pure track/hoon situations).

Posted

Update: Coilovers are in

Only took 2.5 hours with two struts being "stuck". The car no longer rocks back and forth between gears

Just dont get too carried away with the flying part... or u just might fly off the track :whistling:

I demand pics! Nelson is impatient!

I trust it is the token 'Corey North' height?

Sorry, but I'm OG. So it is token SuperDave height. I would take some pics, but since I'm lazy you will have to wait till after the track day.

ok, maybe not flying. Cornering gracefully
