Toyota Australia did consider the Fortuner, but they dropped plans to introduce it here (Would've been a perfect SUV, slot between the Kluger & Land Cruiser Prado.).

As Mitsubishi Australia is looking at the upcoming all-new Strada G-Wagon/ Pajero Sport for Australia, maybe it will be a good idea for Toyota to reconsider the Fortuner.

Main rivals in its home market include (All, including the Fortuner, are Pick Up truck based.); Ford Everest, ThaiRung/ Chevrolet Allroader, ThaiRung Adventure Master 4WD & Isuzu MU-7.

UPDATE: It will be launched in 3 months, this also means that an updated Hilux Vigo will be launched soon.

At least the Fortuner isn't leaf sprung at the rear (The Isuzu MU-7 & Ford Everest are, as they were developed under the old pre-2004 PPV ruling.). It's currently the only Thai PPV (Pick Up Passenger Vehicle.) with coil springs at the rear.

It's new tagline will be "The Ultimate Attraction" (Current one is "The World Is Mine".).

Now it's here...

Front end looks a little Kluger & LC200-ish.

Fortuner on e-Toyota Club. There's the Toyota Car Viewer, where you can view cars in 3D, configure them & watch TV ads. Unfortunately, they haven't update their Fortuner page yet (So, no new e-Brochures for now.).

Also, the new Hilux gets an early unveil on the Malaysian Toyota website. It's not even launched in Thailand yet!

Only one pic though.

Toyota_Hilux_Facelift.jpg

Basically, new front bumper, wing mirror with indicators (Probably a Malaysian-spec add on. It's optional on the Fortuner back in Thailand), new grille, new alloy wheels & headlights with clear indicators. I wonder what will Toyota Australia update on their TRD Hilux.
