I own a 2001 Sportivo. 1800 cc with the 6-speed gearbox and i was wondering if I could use 80W-90 oil in my gearbox rather than the 75W-90 and what effects if any would this have in the gearbox.

Thanks

Are you sure it's the '01 sportivo, as far as I was aware that came with a 5 speed...

it is a gold car with the turbo engine right (7A-FTE)? (all of the '01 Sportivos were like this)

2001 with a 6 speed standard no... Could have been changed...

Meh, anywayz, the main effect you may notice is tightness in the box... I run 80-90 in mine as it's like 16 years old and showing major signs of wear  ...

But to run 80-90 in yours would mostly make your shifts tighter... To be honest, you might not even notice a thing...

Hi Pirate, follow the manufacturer's recommendation and check your manual. I think yours would be closer to 75W85 or 75W90. Castrol makes gearbox oil in that viscosity full synthetic, or redline. Serch redline in this forum and you will find where you can get them (from their website).
