  1. Where did this Black Friday Malarkey come from anyway ?? Just like this Halloween rubbish we have here now. Never used to be until we decided we needed to copy everything the Americans do. How original Black Friday Sales are all fake. I have carefully watched a few vendors prices in the lead up to the so called "sales" and have found they actually jack the prices up then splash out the big marketing discount hype to make you think you're getting a bargain. What a load of hogwash.

  2. I agree Ash, I thought the exact same. I think most Black Friday Sales in Australia are bit lack luster to say the least.

  3. I have not had any Sling and Fling issues mainly because I have applied various products and let them set to dry for a few hours. Preference is to let the tyre shine to dry off overnight.

  4. Thanks for the feedback Tony, appreciate it. With the Tyre Sheen, I think because I applied it and just left it as opposed to applying, and wiping afterwards led to it flinging off the tyre itself. I'm the same with Armorall, I only use it since it's there and I mean it does the job for the moment but I definitely rate the Export stuff, can't go wrong.

  5. I've never used this one personally but I have a friend who does and it's fine. It's quick and easy to apply and doesn't sling. Never used this either, but I do it's a low sheen product, so if your after that wet look, this one won't satisfy. If you found it to be slingy, maybe let it set overnight and see if this helps. I won't go out of my way to but this one, but if I have it, the only use I have for it is the tyres and nothing else. I've had some freebies in the past and they've served me well when i'd run out of my usual stuff I use. If you're thinking of using the Me

  6. In the last few years I've used 3 different tyre shines. - Export - Bowden's Own - Armorall Export: My personal favourite of the 3 I've used. For the price you can't complain, I usually pick up a few when SCA have them as a bundle of 6 or so. Love the wet look and it's pretty simple to apply. I use an old face towel we've had for years at home that we use for tyre shine application. The only draw back is that it probably lasts a fortnight or so at the very most if there is no rain. Bowden's Own: Of the 3, I found this one to be the most disappointing especially when I began

  7. Love any inline 6. We used to play with the old Falcon/Cortina 4.1 LT crossflow engines back in the day and they were a dream to work on too. The guy in the video was lucky he was working on a rear wheel drive Lexus so his banks were easily accessible. Love to see him do this on an Aurion lol ! I bet it would be an engine out job for sure.

  8. That was the title of the video, but upon watching it, it actually illustrates the replacement of the valve springs instead, not the 'seal' per say. I assume the uploader may have a language barrier and calls a valve spring a valve 'seal ' perhaps ? Regardless, what a job !

  9. Yeah, Me too. This was the result of a service bulletin in America I believe. It is possible the 2GR-FE is built to a differing standard for the various parts of the world because I've never heard of such a thing for the Aussie Aurion V6.

  10. Too involved for my liking. I have read about valve springs having to be replaced on other vehicles because of poor quality or design. Not exactly something that can be avoided by doing regular oil changes.

  11. Low mileage vehicle but way overpriced. Good price for the seller but not for you as a buyer. I use Redbook for its pricing guide. https://www.redbook.com.au/cars/details/2002-toyota-camry-altise-auto/SPOT-ITM-280561/ http://australiancar.reviews/reviews.php#!content=recalls&make=Toyota&model=Camry&gen=886 I would be looking for previous repaired accident damage plus any obvious drive train noises. When you find a worthwhile vehicle, definitely get a vehicle history report and a mechanical inspection before buying.

  12. Hi all, just joined here tonight. I don't know a great deal about Toyota's except the reputation. My daughter is looking at a 2002 Camry Altise auto. Just over 110k's with full service history. Very clean looking in the pics. We're going to have a look tomorrow and I'm wondering if there is anything in particular I should be paying attention to. Are there any faults common to this model. I know Toyota's are usually a pretty safe bet but it is still 18 years old. Asking $6700 with 6 months rego. Thanks in advance for any help Cheers Marneth

  13. Sounds waaaaaay overpriced (especially for a base-model Ascent), even Sportivos don't go for that much. I've been keeping an eye out for ZZE wagons for a while, and for a good condition pre-facelift model with ~200k they seem to be going for around the $5k mark (although I've solely been looking at manuals, and private sales rather than dealers), there are some $2-3k bargains out there but they tend to be much higher ks. If it was a Levin it might be close to actual value, but no way for an Ascent (or even a Conquest). COVID is completely screwing with used car prices, if you can afford

  15. I had a look at the 100 Litre ToolPro Storage Trunk on special for $30 at Super Cheap Auto. At that price, I was hoping that they would be similar heavy duty construction as the Tactix 85 Litre Heavy Duty Storage box which I had previously bought at Bunnings. Expectations not met, so walked away empty handed. Later, I went to Bunnings to look at the Montgomery 57L and 80L Storage Containers with flip lid for $12 and $16. Very impressed with the quality, both the base and lid of the containers are reinforced so they should last. Also half the price of the Tactix brand so I e

  16. I'm with Tony on this one. I mean some things do actually get reduced but I too have noticed a wide array of different items go up in price and basically when "on sale" return to the price they were prior.

  17. I am thinking that this Black Friday Sale is mostly hype and little substance. Repco has continued with their catalogue sale as previously reported. Some good oils are @ 50% discount. Checked SuperCheap Auto and AutoBarn but nothing much there in the way of oil specials. I am not expecting any outstanding oil specials in December and maybe not until Australia Day 2021.

  18. Repco has a few oils on special for Black Friday sales. https://www.repco.com.au/en/oils-fluids/engine-oils-fluids/engine-oil/c/1862918079?q=%3Arelevance%3ApartSlot%3AENGINE%2BOIL&text=# Not too much going compared to other big sales we've had.

  19. I really wish we had these cars too. I'd seriously consider buying one. I absolutely love the interior design. Ah, that Toyota Quality oozing everywhere. Styling isn't bad either and the exhaust note is very nice too. The guy in this video talks a bit too fast but good video nonetheless. When he says TRD it sounds like "Tierdee" 😄

  20. G'day Gents, I finally stopped procrastinating and did the auto transmission service today. This service consisted of 3 parts. Current Odometer reading 123,050 Klm. Original factory fill for transmission. 1. Pan drain and replacement of filter. 2. Full System Fluid flush. 3. Fluid Level Adjustment. Ok, so here we go: 1. PAN DRAIN AND REPLACEMENT OF FILTER Had to jack the car up on all fours to get the level required. This took some time but was able to get it nice and level. Being level gives more accuracy when doing the fluid level adjustment as you kn
