Did you end up taking it into the toyota dealership? My engine has made that ticking noise for as long as I can remember . I was under the impression that the 'ticking' was normal for a 1zzfe (as I was told it was quite a noisy engine).

I had the same problem with my corolla before. Just use some strong car polish liquid and rub....keep rubbing for a long time ;) +1 to that. I rubbed in some meguiars scratch x and it gradually disappeared after a few applications. I've had a read about it online and the yellowish cloud is supposedly due to oxidation...
