  1. Same issue with my 2007. Had it in for 120k service 6 weeks ago & raised the sticky dash with the Toyota dealer on the basis that it was becoming unsafe (reflecting onto windscreen). When I picked the Aurion up dealer told me that it had been referred to Toyota as an out of warranty claim. Two days letter phoned to say dash replacement had been approved at no cost to me (quoted $1230 if I was to pay) but it would be 4-6 weeks for replacement to come from Japan. Had new dash fitted yesterday. Squeeks & rattles now all gone so that's a bonus. Highly satisfactory result - I have been using this dealer for about 15 years to service my various Toyotas so maybe that played some part in it, or Toyota has suddenly realised the problem is bigger than first thought.
  2. Thanks for that. I have a replacement off a 2009 Aurion that looks identical and has the same part number so that should do it.
  3. Has anyone removed and/or replaced one of these on a 2007 Aurion? If so could you please let me now the procedure. Mine is faulty & I don't feel like spending $550 for Toyota to supply new & replace so intend picking one up from a wrecker & replacing myself. I'm assuming it is just a further step from removing the radio system (which I have done before) but maybe there is another twist to this particular component.
  4. Just had the intermediate shaft on my 2007 ATX replaced yesterday after the knock appeared at 49000K & 1 year out of warranty. Dealer attempted to get an "out of warranty" fix but I gather he was unsuccessful as he said that the cost was being picked up by the "Extra Care" warranty which I (fortunately) negotiated for 2 years at half-price when buying the Aurion. All feels & sounds good so hopefully problem won't recur with the replacement part.
  5. Close to needing new tyres on my ATX (215/60R16 genuine alloys-16x6.5" I think)& considering replacing wheels with 17x7". Tyres under consideration are 225/50R17 although these seem to be in limited supply with a 95V rating. Other option is 245/45R17 which seem to have quite a bit of brand choice as well as meeting the 95V rating. My questions are: 1. The ATX load rating with 16" wheels is 95V whereas the higher spec models with 17" wheels is 93V. By upgrading the wheels to 17" do I still have to comply with the 95V rating? 2. Is anyone running 245 tyres on a 17x7" wheel? From what I have read from some tyre retailers sites, the minimum wheel width for 245 seems to be 7.5" but the RimsnTires calculator shows 7" as being okay. Prefer to get this "from the horse's mouth" if possible. Presumably there shouldn't be any rubbing issues with 245 - not lowered.
  6. Same thing happened to my 2000 Camry last year. Had it replaced at Moorooka Auto Trimmers http://www.moorookatrim.com.au/page.php?id=2 for $200 while I waited - took less than 1 hour.
  7. Is it possible to get a copy of this service bulletin? I have a 2007 ATX which experiences this issue from time to time, mainly when cold.
  8. OK, doesn't look like the 245's present any clearance issues then - decision time for me now. Many thanks to those who responded - certainly helped.
  9. I have read your original thread & had noted only a $200 price difference but I wasn't sure which tyre brand you had gone with. I didn't know PDW actually made tyres, or am I misreading you? I'm not sure I want to go to 19". This is a family car & the ride may be too harsh on a 35 profile tyre (which is another reason why I lean towards the 225/45 profile with probably Falken FK452).
  10. Currently have standard 215/60R16 Goodyear Assurance on Toyota 16" x 6.5" alloys. Looking at aftermarket alloy 18" x 8" probably the PDW equivalent of B.Boss Eleanor. Not intending to make any mods to the suspension or lowering (at this stage anyway). Tyres are the issue as always. My thinking is one of the following sizes: 225/45R18; 235/45R18; 245/40R18 all of which fit into the Qld regulations. My first choice would be the 235/45 but these are not all that common & probably therefore expensive. The 245/40 concern me with the possible clearances with the suspension (15mm closer) and mudguards (stick out a further 15mm & perhaps beyond the edge). Therefore the 225/45 seem to be the best compromise with more choice & little issues with clearances. Before making my decision, is anyone running the 245/40 or the 235/45 with stock suspension/no lowering & if so have they had any clearance/rubbing issues?
  11. Images as promised - some minor alignment issues but nothing here concerns me.
  12. I'll give the GPS/Radio a test tomorrow. I'll take a couple of photos of the unit tomorrow as well & post them up. I just hope this unit doesn't fail because the chances of getting any satisfaction seem remote judging from your experience so far. I seriously have doubts about a seller who states item is in Brisbane & ships it direct from China - I'm still considering whether to report this to EBay.
  13. Cheers Imposter, found one American voice with TTS (Susan?) & that did the job. Thanks mate. Would be interested to see if I could get other voices loaded onto the SD card so will do some research during spare time this coming week. I guess it is a deliberate design not to be able to listen to the radio or a CD whilst the satnav is operative. No major issues with the steering buttons (AT-X) - I have the volume + and - working fine. The mode button at the moment turns the system on & off & I don't know that the other 2 are doing at this stage. The instructions are not real clear & I just need some time to sort out what the various functions are & which button(s) they need to be assigned to. I think I have managed to get the radio to Australia rather than USA2 which it seemed to default to. Anyway I have no major complaints with this unit.
  14. Well I installed it this morning. No real issues with the physical install & wasn't doing a camera. It fits fairly well, certainly enough for me not to be concerned. Bluetooth works fine with my Nokia 6300; DVD's play perfectly; Audio CD's & MP3's play perfectly; Radio is very clear & managed to get the steering wheel buttons working to some degree although more tweaking required. Manual instructions are not that clear to me; Not interested in TV or IPod connections so left them alone. NOW - the GPS does work as I took imposter's suggestions re the SD card first. Imposter - do you know if this unit speaks the street names? There is a section to set up voices which I have done but I don't get any when the GPS is in operation. The manual says to "See User's Guide of GPS Satellite Navigator for more operation details" - that would be great if there was one, I can't find it not even on the supplied CD? The 2nd thing is when the GPS is on, is it possible to listen to the radio? I can't work out how to do this if in fact it is possible.
  15. Thanks for all of this. I am hoping I might get to mine later today & if so will report any issues. If there are any then it will be going back - I won't have your patience. I will claim the item has been misrepresented & does not do what it is claimed it will do. Look at it all - claimed to suit an Aurion (but they seem to be saying in an email Camry only) & it doesn't fit properly; sent from China when item location stated as Brisbane; faulty SD card or SD reader. Will be an interesting exercise.
