Matt - Congrats mate :D as someone pointed out to me once. " I bet not even Mike Tyson could wipe the grin off your face at the moment!"
Enjoy the ride, and be safe ;)
-
03mike - glad to hear you mounted that bracket and all is good :)
-
black - All of my issues with rattles etc disappeared with the installation of my stereo and my alarm system.
So there must have been a few loose things in there which toyota did not have the time (or even bother) with looking at in my first 1000 K Service. I have almost 6000K's up now and none of the original noises have returned,
I do have a slight rattle at high revs now around the alpine headunit, but this is due to the 3 peice pocket which now sits in there. But it is nothing like it used to be.
Hope you resolve this sooner rather than later :(
-
E - nice work on 6 there mate :) i think we should loose the texture on the ATOC though too cluttered
nice work though ;)

Shao and I 'had' an exact same power curve on the dyno (my exhaust stock) [shao magnaflow]but we didnt check torque. Will have to look into it ;)
-
Well done boys :) Good to see some people getting in there and having ago at things :)
It's not about the power increase with the CAI (as its marginal at best) its all about the noise :D
I would be interested in getting a wave file of the 'home made' CAI with the car under load. As I know the TRD one sounds awesome (have had many comments)
The 'home made' also adds to the SLEEPER quality we love so much about this car.

Soz was using another browser which didnt show the pics. Alls good now on IE. Nice pics :)
Be great to see any more than 3 Stivos in a place at a time though. Thats the most I have seen at any one time up here in QLD. We are lacking numbers up here :( but make up for it in performance and mods :P
-
having trouble finding links to the pics flux?
-
yay ! people are actually listening to me :P
Oz - would like to see a pic or 2 if you could :)
-
quik - yeah have noticed a slight improvement in revs above 3k especially in lift
-
Again you should listen to peekays wisdom ;) cut off the top section of the bracket which has the silver mounted thread on it. then all is sweet :D
-
yay for toyo :D
wellldone and good luk :)
-
i never let the tank go under 1/4 full and i get 450 ~ and i usually fill up with 45 ~ Litres so you can say i get 10Ks/L and thats with city and highway driving and I am in lift atleast 3 times a day.
-
I just called up AAMI and let them know about the CAI thats on there now.
You are right trd141 about the mods although once you go past a combination of 3 mods (mechanical or asthetic) they will review your policy manually next time it is up for renewal. If they feel it has passed their boundary, they will recommend that you go to their sister company "Just Cars" or another specialised car insurer for your 'performance' car.
It's not that they dont like to have your business it's just that other specialised insurers are better handled to deal with your car if the worst does happen.
Eg. my car is covered for around $35,000 now and it is covered by them. However it is already flagged to be reviewed next year when my renewal comes.

heres the pic of the calipers.
E - took a good 3 hours to do. Used axle stands to hold the car up (4 of them one for each corner) and a trolley jack to lift the car up.
1ZZ-FE - firstly welcome :) and you can get the paint from most automotive stores. supercheap etc. :) (as per iorman)
-
Brissy boy here also.....celica at heart...but corolla on the outside aka sportivo :P
-
Matt,
Glad to hear that all is going to be taken care of. :D

Guys,
After installing the CAI on Friday I looked at my car and said to myself "hmmm...what can I do now?"
So I went down to the local car shop and bought some VHT Brake Caliper and Rotor paint (Racing Red) and also some appropriate cleaner.
Needless to say after the car was jacked up and put on the stilts, wheels taken off. Cleaned the caliper/rotors, I taped up the areas I didnt want painted and then started as per the instruction.
Needless to say a few hours later and about 5 coats the brakes look 'FREAKIN FANTASTIC' (shao can confirm)
I'll post some pics tonight when I get back home.
But if your looking for some good 'specialist' paints look for the VHT range of paints :D
Cheers :D

E - yes that is the CAI for our Matrix/Sportivo. The pipe is a 100 % fit. The bracket for the VCV has to be bent in a couple of places and another bracket which is near the fuse box needs to be cut and grinded back. Apart from that its a relativly easy install. (once you know how, and have called peekay a coupld of times ;) )
-
simple question .....did you remove the filter from the air box?
I hope it all went well and it doesnt restrict the flow with the box still on the line also.
I'd be interested in the pics ;)
Well done :D

Shaohaok -> your more than welcome mate. Thx for lending me a hand also
Peekay -> thx for the pics of the vcv etc. helped out alot. and thx again for the phone support also
Installation went well. Thank *** I was at home and I had all my tools available.....otherwise it would have been difficult. Especially with one screw which got striped and i had to use some fancy multigrips.
I'd also like to thank Toyota for the full role of electrical tape which was hiding in near my air box when i took it out. I hope it was a 'free' extra
The sound now is nice especially when going into lift. Shao and I tested it a few times on the highway home
All in all a good 1/2 days work
as from other thx post from Shaohaok

whilst the outline looks nice I think just a text based logo would be better. less for people to make out when they are looking at it.
Need to get straight to the point and FAST. Especially how fast some of us are traveling at times :P
I'll work on something when I get back to work (in my spare time)

change the rotors grim ;)
you can also purchase sports calipers from places like autobarn etc. they are generally 2 piston type and are straight bolt on. I havent seen any advertised for a while though.
