  1. My 2 cents. Get plates that relate to you not the car. You will be happy longer.
  2. Carsales News Mentions the hybrid Corolla(?) for 2012.
  3. Most car models are on a 6 year cycle with a facelift after 3 and a minor facelift and equipment upgrade at 5 to keep the model still selling. Keep an eye out for a special edition in the last year ("Edge" or "Sport" for the Corolla) this will usually tell you that a new model is coming out soon, although they have been known to do the special editions just to increase sales too. I would expect a new model to be released 2013 for the Corolla, I think the ZRE was available from April 2007? These are just my observations so don't go making large bets with people based on them....
  4. "Both Yaris and Corolla models produced from September and delivered from October 18"
  5. Source here Corolla Ascent Hatch starts at $20,990 and now includes 7 airbags standard plus rear power windows (long overdue). Levin SX Hatch also gets the 7 airbags standard and a $700 price cut. Conquest hatch gets moonroof and $610 price cut. Levin ZR gets moonroof (been posted previously) and $910 price cut.
  6. My trip computer says range 540km to empty after filling up. My average so far is 7-7.1 L/100km (only had the Levin ZR 5 weeks). Theoretical range 770km or so. So the computer is being conservative and I can't get it to change its' mind. A few extra tips for filling up... Don't fill up when the fuel station is filling up! The tank is getting stirred up and that is bad. Not sure about multiple underground tanks but if I see a tanker I keep on driving just in case. Fill up when the underground tank is going to be coolest. Early morning before the sun heats up the ground is best. Petrol contracts when it's cold so you get more for your money. Be aware though that if you fill up to the brim with cold fuel and then park in the sun (or heating up garage) you will have little room for the expansion that is going to take place. Been there and done that. It leaks out through the cap and stinks out your garage and the rest of your house. Use up fuel before you park or don't fill to the click.
  7. By law you have to have reflectors on the rear of the vehicle. This is so traffic can see your vehicle easily at night when it's parked on the side of the road. I'm not sure if your tail lights have the reflectors in - like the pre-facelift does. I have seen these after market reflectors with a ring of LEDs around the outside but still function as a reflector in the centre. As always - mod at own risk and doing your homework first is always a good idea...
  8. You may have herard that there may be a V6 version corolla coming out. V6 from the RAV4. Toyota are also sending a fact finding team to WRC Rally Portugal, so fingers crossed they get back in the WRC, and toes crossed we can buy a production version in Aus after that.
  9. I average 10L/100km in my 2Lt turbo 4wd celica GT4. I don't use boost a lot but still my average is consistent 10-11Lt/100km. I'm looking at a 2nd hand zre152 as a daily driver and thought fuel economy should be round the 7 mark.
  10. Thanks, currently trying to decide between new and used, FL or preFL. $8k difference...
  11. Thought that might be the case, but how come the pre-facelift doesn't have it? What is new in the display? Or was it activated differently? I noticed the facelift has put on 35kg across the range. You'd think they would have gone the other way.
  12. What's the "Disp" button on the MY10 steering wheel do?
  13. Thankyou for the response. The fuel is rather off putting. I'm currently looking at a rav 4 edge 2009 with 7500kms. I guess the fuel economy wouldn't be so bad with those k's on the clock. Tossing up between that and a corolla but don't know if the rolla will suit my needs in a year or 2. Economical and cheap to keep yes but may not have the room for lugging my business stuff around. Which the Rav will be overkill for right now but in the future.... Decisions decisions. Going to test drive both new next week to see what feels right for me. Thanks again.
  14. Hi, I've got the RAV4 on my short list but I'm put off by some of the fuel economy reports. What do you get? Plus what am I looking at in the way of tyre prices?
  15. Yeah Sterling Silver is what I've been looking at - absolutely love that colour. Congrats with the purchase and good luck with the wait :D
