  1. Its very heavy, thats all I really know. It hasnt changed the handling due to extra weight in the back thankfully though. I am able to bottom out on ramps much more easily however as ive found out. :(
  2. Actually im getting two grilles that have been ordered in, they protect the subs and are very heavy metal. I can put stuff ontop of them with no worries. :P Ruined your fun? Setup cost $2000 with custom box for the subs and lights and the two grilles that havnt come in yet. The car is starting to become a semi showcar with it being driven daily so im not too fussed about practible use since I dont need the car for too much except driving. :D Technik car audio installed it, the guy who did my installation is the 3rd best installer in Australia.
  3. Apologies for the bad pic quality, it was shot at night with no extra light than what the boot provides. Il post better pics if people want to see it clearer etc. Took 3 weeks to do and had a few problems on the way but its all good. Have no spare wheel and my sound system hammers well now. Sound system specs: JVC headunit (Soon to be replaced with an alpine TV screen headunit) 1 Alpine 4-way amp (75w x 4) 1 Alpine amp to run the subs 2 Alpine 12' Type S subwoofers Alpine 6' DDlinear speakers in the back doors Rainbow 6' top range speakers in the front doors :D
  4. But this contradicts the legality on having undercar neon lights which are completely legal (if the globe isnt exposed to anyones eye). Dont get me wrong, im not trying to argue or anything but its even more confusing hearing that after neon lights got the all clear from everyone. (at least in Perth they did) I hate how each of the states has different laws regarding modifications. Surely it would be so much easier and practical to have a set base of standards throughout Australia. Im sure some people may be able to get some idea of what the actual law is then.
  5. 4.5kg Nucken Futs that's very light ! ← Because its Carbon Fiber if im not mistaking? I went to try and purchase one.. found out it was made of carbon and got my bonnet modified to a similar shape instead. Both are illegal as well. I have many illegal things on my car, original bonnet is cut into, POD filter doesnt have a permit, Car is too low with the exhaust, no spare wheel due to boot install. I cant say im too fussed, as long as I dont drive like a ******* then no cop will have a problem with me on the road. However if I wanted to drive around trying to drag people and go around roundabouts fast.. (WHICH IS ALSO ILLEGAL) then I doubt id have risked the mods. Point is, some people arnt fussed by the minor illegal modifications. They wont do any harm and will only be picked up if you either get a copper on a bad day or drive like a fool. If I get a yellow sticker it will be easy enough to adjust the car to legal again. Also.. on topic, the washer lights arnt illegal if you set them to time in with your immobiliser, IE. the washers come on after you have parked the car and set the alarm, it is illegal to have them on whilst driving though. Good luck with fitting them.
  6. You can place your 12' sub easily in your boot. However if what your meaning is a custom boot install, then there are plentty of ways to go around keeping your spare wheel. If your wanting a custom boot, best bet is to ask the professionals and see what they recommend. If you just want the sub placed in the boot then simply just place it in there are your ready to go. :D There are many ideas to stop the sub rolling around in the boot as well such as velcro, tying it down with string etc. and im sure some other people have other methods as well. Personally I have 2 12' subs in my boot with 2 amps as well. For a long time I had them just floating around in the boot placed ontop whilst keeping the spare wheel. Now I have a custom boot install and no spare wheel, I sure as hell dont regret it though.
  7. If your planning on keeping the Ascent for a while, and you will be the primary driver of the car and not your mum then there is a few things you can do. Toyota Sports Grille - Get rid of the stcok grille as your first move. 17' wheels, and superlow springs. Seen this done on one Ascent already and it looks great, no bodykit is needed since the car sits perfectly low without scraping the floor with the springs. Much cheaper option as well. If you have to be unique, 18' will also fit. Remus exhaust would be next, its not a cannon or anything but a nice subtle twin tipped exhaust made for the Ascent, costs roughly $750-$850 however. TRD Cold Air Intake - Im getting my car back today with this fitted, so ive no idea how it runs but im sure its worth it. Thats $450. Genie headers/ Extractors - The next mod im getting myself, no idea on price or performance. After those mods you would be pretty happy. I know you said exterior mods only but getting a bit of sound to prove your accelerating in the ascent is always a nice thing to have. But if its really your mums car and she is driving it most of the time and doesnt have an interest in cars what so ever, then personally I wouldnt touch it and id just be happy to have a car to drive around in for a start. :D
  8. Toyota strikes again. Why couldnt they have fixed this flaw in the recent recall? Laziness if you ask me. But yeah, with my ascent birds play 'chicken' in front of me when I drive, I guess with the sportivo being a bit faster they dont get away with it unlike when I barely miss them.
  9. Ive had my rolla up to 180km before, its not a sportivo though, just a little ascent. :D Took a while to get it up to that though, after 170 the acceleration was pretty minimal.
  10. I can help on this question too :D As IZZ-FE said, the car sounds similar whilst at idle, but somehow has that throatier sound to it, you really notice the exhaust whilst revving hard and high, sounds great! It doesnt drone at all and responds to how your driving, if your driving slow and softly.. the exhaust wont give off much noise, if you drive hard and fast then you will get a very nice tune out. Performance wise, I felt it helped a little bit, but when you hear the responce the car gives when you accelerate it may just seem to make things seem better and not to much at all. But remus developed the exhaust well, it SHOULD give better results, havnt been on a dyno to check however.
  11. I bet it handles great now! Gives it that little edge it needs to feel right no doubt. When I looked at the second photo :o I wish my undercar area stayed that clean, mine looks like its had hot tar spilled all over it. Great stuff though! You make 1zz owners proud! :D If you dont mind me asking, how much did it all set you back?
  12. ok so im in the minority, well considering the range of other cars you can purchase for $40,000 I would have thought people would choose another car. :D If I had that sort of cash and could get insured im sure id splash out for it too though.
  13. Basically a supercharged sportivo? That would rock, no doubt it would come out as too expensve though, $40,000 would sounds about right since normal sportivo is $30,000. And in all honesty.. who is going to pay $40,000 for a corolla?
  14. From Perth are ya? Same as me. Go visit paul in Tyre Power Pro, he doesnt sell the wheels but he can get hold of them for you and hopefully do a very decent price. If you want the address PM me for it. HE got me 17' chrome wheels for $1300 WITH toyo tyres, tell him SMD's son sent you. :D
  15. 18' will fit and have been put on a few rollas, however performance will decrease and you may not have a full turning circle as the wheels could rub the gaurds. Very nice wheel though.
  16. Right, a second question, anyone know where I can get a TRD CAI from? Ive tried e-mailing bruce a few times but am getting no replies, anywhere else that sells them? Im not keen on getting one from e-bay from America.
  17. You legand! Thanks for putting my mind at rest, il be ordering a TRD CAI very soon now.
  18. Hi guys, I know a lot of you have installed CAI on your rollas but ive come across a bit of a problem. I want to put a CAI system on my Ascent, but many places im going to are worrying about the sensors that seem to be built into the current intake piping. If I bought a TRD intake is there somewhere to place the sensors? Or is there a way to adapt the sensors to a pipe easily or what? Help would be appreciated, il take some photos if you stivo owners dont have the same sensors as I do but im sure you would.
  19. wow, nice photos! The pic of a black stivo on the dyno looks nice as, looks really low! haha. Who is the guy with the green fluffy boot install? Looks pretty. I shall be getting my boot install in a few weeks. Expensive things <_< Good stuff guys! Someone gonna post who got the awards or anything?
  20. Typical white coloured corollas. Will their owners ever learn to drive?
  21. Ive been thinking of doing it for over a year now. Must be some sort of gene us blue owners have... cant think of any other reason. Thanks heaps for the horn tip, il have a go at it as soon as I can get my ***** out of my lazyboy chair
  22. Ive been trying to move that horn for *** knows how long, there is no-where to move it too though! I will give it another shot this weekend, tips would be helpfull. :) Thanks so much for the comments guys, was a bit of a risk getting it done as scoops for rollas arnt exactly common, the workmanship done on it is fantastic though. Im happy with it, good to see other people like it too! :D
  23. May as well just post it here Cost $600 for the labour work, it took 3 weeks to finish it off properly, the original bonnet was sliced and diced and had metal things inserted and much else done. Then I got ripped off by some panel beaters, they charged $600 to paint it and seal it over properly, it was meant to cost a lot less than that, but nevermind. Fully customized job, this is still the original bonnet, its been reenforced underneath the bonnet and paint on both sides. Mesh in the scoop itself is black and can be taken out or replaced whenever as its unattatchable. December the car is going in for a boot install, then January im going for genie headers and extractors. Feedback is great thanks, except anyone telling me that it cost too much <_< I know it did. Edit: In short, total price was $1200
  24. Yeah went for a custom hood scoop to finish styling off me ascent a little bit :D Its based off the toms carbon fiber bonnet, except not in carbon fibre and not toms Here are some photos of it I was going for something different, I reckon I got it too :P Its probably either like it or hate it, its gonna take me a bit to get used to but I love it anyways, and thats what matters :D
