  1. Hmm owning a 1 out of 537 and knowing not too many more are going to be produced is a nice feeling. Regardless of what the critics say, I think those that own a TRD (and Toyota fans in general) would obviously be sadden by the death of the company in it's current guise but would be bloody chuffed that they own one of the few models produced
  2. No choice really (TRD), premium or PING In terms of brand loyalty, generally Mobil whenever I can - but the local servo on the way home from work is a Shell so the Optimax (or whatever ridiculous name they call it now) seems to be getting my hard earned dollars more often than not lately. Personally I've never used the Ethanol substitutes, no real scientific reasons to back up my boycot - just not a fan.
  3. Congrats on the new system, sounds like it was well worth it. Nice looking head deck too... Quick question about the above, I'm not a fan of the double din setup and will be looking to upgrade my stock outfit as soon as I find a head deck I like. How much was the factory "blank" you refer to? Able to source from your local Toyota parts dealer? Part number? Cheers.
  4. Have never managed to put in more than 55L when filling up. I'll usually wait until the fuel warning light comes on and then drive for another 50km - have never been brave enough to go further. Reassuring to know I've got plenty of km's left before actually needing to fill up...
  5. Cheers for clarifying. Nice to know the inside workings...
  6. Madrox, please don't take this the wrong way but I rang up Tint.a.Car Parramatta on Friday and was quoted $295 for MEX 35% without any haggling what so ever. Bloke on the phone said normally $395 but it's $100 off at the moment. Saying that, it's good to know you'll ensure people from the forum get a good job done - lol, I probably would have taken you up on the offer if I didn't get my windows done just today.
  7. Had the car tinted today - 35% for $235. Was quoted $260 and then found a $25 discount voucher on the internet. Went to Instant Windscreens at Parramatta. Nothing bad to say about them, no fuss or hassle. Tinting definately improves the looks, not dark enough for my liking though. I had 15% on my last car and managed to get defected, couldn't be bothered going through that hassle again. Have attached a before and after pic (not the greatest but hopefully you'll get the idea...)
  8. Will second that! Above 3,500 rpm and also when the engine is under load (steep inclines) the pretty red thing on top of the engine reminds you that it is there. It's whine is nothing like an aftermarket Vortech set-up though, I heard some Vortech pumps on Commodores (mainly a VS Ecotech engine) and it sounded like there was a cat being strangled under the bonnet - it was insane!
  9. Cheers folks, shall have a look around for the filter and see how I go. I've used K&N filters with my last two cars and can't say a bad word about them, happy I'll be able to slot one into the Aurion.
  10. Off topic slightly, sorry folks. K&N drop in filter - anyone confirm part number? I can see on the K&N website two possibilities; KN33-2030 KN33-2052 Cheers.
  11. How tall are you? I'm six-three and with the seat completely lowered, I have plenty of leg/head room. I can't comfortably 'Fat Arm' it as the seat is too low. I'm 6'6 and depending on how I have the seat can feel my head brush the roof. I prefer to drive relatively upright also as opposed to some drivers I see who appear to think the best ergonomical driving position is similar to how they sit in a recliner!
  12. Sounds like I need to pay a visit to a dealer :o I have that "bolt bobbying around in a plastic mug" sound coming from the general direction of the glovebox. Has been annoying the living $hit out of me!
  13. AGE: 23 SEX: Male STATUS: Happily Taken REASONS FOR BUYING: Originally set out to buy an XR6 Turbo, couldn't find the right one. Was looking at the auctions for an ex-chaser and spotted the TRD. Liked the look, took a similar model for a test drive and was convinced. PROS: Not too many on the roads Turns heads Fuel economy Luxury CONS: FWD - However am learning to live with it High seat - Not much head room Every clown in their performance car wants to line me up at the lights
  14. 2 Weekends Ago Sydney to Canberra 4 adults, full boot (bags, swags, esky etc) 98 RON (Shell) Average fuel consumption - 8.9L/100K (cruise set at 120 km p/h) Last Weekend Sydney to Canberra 1 adult, 1/4 full boot (bag, swag, esky etc) 98 RON (Shell) Average fuel consumption - 7.8L/100K (cruise set at 120 km p/h) Pleasantly surprised with how economical the Aurion engine is. Both trips were with the odd squirt on the fun pedal, followed by a realisation that the speedo was showing figures that were enough to catch the interest of the boys in blue.
  15. Purchased 3 weeks ago. TRD dealer and State Roads have given the car the thumbs up. Am happy with the purchase thus far. Aurion ZR6 - I believe your boss traded in the TRD for a G6E Turbo?
