Dealer has put in a report !! to Toyota but no action as usual.

Yes I fitted the trailer kit myself, I sealed the entry point grommets with silcone after fitting . I have noticed that the dust is entering several areas , I lifted the floor trim to lay some new cables and found a fair bit of fine powder dust around the plastic retainers that locate in the floor. My rear window was ok internally but externally is a major problem. The dust also enters around the tool kit storage panels and around the door locks and handles, This model is the poorest for sealing , . Reagards Graham & Cathy :(

The rear air foil/deflector or whatever Mr Toyota wants to call it is a Danger on dusty roads. The design is so bad it actuall creates a low air pressure around the rear of the vehicle allowing dust to enter any tiny orifice in the vehicle. Also it deposits dust in large qyuantities onto the back window and completely obscuring any vision through the back window , THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION on Australian Back roads , I have had 3 near misses as I could not see via the window at all. Because dust is dry you cannot clear it with the wiper / washer combo , wet weather is as bad but at least you can clear the window when it is wet. I have contacted the Toyota Customer Service line only to be told that it was designed this way for improved fuel consumption !!!!!, doesn,t matter if it creates a dangerous situation !!!!!!!!!. So I am on the lookout for an aftermarket air deflector like the ones available on other model cruisers .. Reagards Graham & Cathy ;)

Hi yes it happened on my 100 series, it sounded just like a slipping fan belt , so checked and changed all belts but no differance. Have a freind with a 80 series and he had same prob , his mechanic diagnosed a tiny leak in the turbo gasket, changed the gaskets and all ok . I didn,t change mine as I traded the vehicle in on a 200. I suggest taking it to a proffessional turbo centre and let them listen , if it sounds like a screaming fan belt then let them know that it may be a leaky gasket , but I would get it fixed. I had the mod done 9th Oct 2009 , works great once you get used to using S mode. 6th selects at 100kmh and torque converter locks at a little under 110kmh and does seem to hold in under light lods ok, Just returned home from a 4mth trip over the eastern states with a fuel return of 6.5kms per litre, sounds heavey BUT I was towing a 3,2 tonne caravan most of the time , and with a 180 litre long range tank fitted ( total of 270ltrs fuel ), I am pleased with consumption figures , they are bette than my manual 100 turbo. oil consumption was a non event as changed it at 5000 kms intervals. I used S mode in 4 speed setting. Cheers Graham & Cathy

24 Feb, was contacted by a Toyota dealer yesterday, Printed manuals are now available BUT! there are 6 or 7 and they range in cost of $230.00 upwards ,plus GST. To dear for us . Graham & Cathy

Did a trip to York Peninsula her in S.Aust yesterday, about 250kms , switched on cruise control at 110kms/hr and it sat on 2000rpm , waited and waited but no shift into 6th, terrain was flat and no head wind , fuel tanks were 3/4 full and 2 people ,engel with emergency supplies ( snags and Coopers pale ale , only just found room for the snags ). I thought " whats the point of 6th if it wont click in ", so tried a different approach . I left the cruise control on but wound the speed up to 120kms and after a few seconds !!! WOW revs dropped as it slid into No 6, then slowly eased back to 110kms/hr and the convertor locked on . It was a happy motor at 1650RPM at 110kms/hr. once that was achieved we found that even when it shifted back to 5th for road levell variations it still shifted back into 6th witout the need to reach 120 klicks again. Fantastic trip and the same thing happened on way home . The only thing we did notice was it wasn.t vey happy in hilly terrain with constantly shifting out of 6th so we switched off cruse control until the terrain was flat and then reset the 6th at 120kms/hr , then all way home to the lower speed zone it sat in 6th gear for about 90kms. Hi all , we have had our lc200 for 4 weeks and so far rapt, but the proof of purchase will come at Easter 2009 , when we will be towing our 3t caravan into the Flinders ranges here in S.A. Previous LCs wer 2x 60 series , 1x 80 series TD and our last very faithful 100 series td manual , . The 100 series was 8years old when we traded and had done a lot of heavy towing over the last 6 years ( 2.5t plus caravans) we travel for 6months and return to Adelaide around Sept each year to work , usually up till end of April when "Nick off again". I was very dissapointed at not being able to obtain a aftermarket work shop manual for my LC200, the orig Toyota is on a CD at a very prhibitive cost, my trade background is in the Comms and electronics field fault finding and repairing, albeit these days I have been working mainly on Brand name power tools, so I used to look forward to nutting out the schematics of my car for futer problem solving , e.g That pain in the butt "inhibitor switch on the LC100 Manual gear box that cuts back the power and torque in 1st gear, cured it by disconnecting it then put a manual switch on the dash if I wanted to use it , but why would you. So after all that rambling , does anyone know of a workshop manual for the LC200 ??? Regards Graham & Cathy EM newnomad@telstra.com

Hi all , Yep more noobs, used to belong to the 80 series user group but have moved on a couple of models , took delivery of 200 series 3 weeks ago and in the process f setting up for touring. We travell for 6 months and back home to Adelaide during the xmas period to work for 6mths , so we have a good life style .. Regards Graham & Cathy
