  1. Hi Mel We have the 2006 rav which is wider and sadly there is no way we can three across.
  2. I would be looking at a motor out of a low mileage wrecked one. Save a LOT of labour costs and provided there is a proper service history and the wreck hasnt been on its roof or side it should be fine.
  3. Current Rav4 4cyl auto......Now the V6 would be bl***************dy bewdiful!
  4. Here is the link; http://www.scangauge.com/ basically it plugs into the obi plug and is basically a very smart trip computer that monitors most of what the engine does - fuel use (instant-avg), temps, load etc. I tow a lot with a hilux workmate ute and normally when i would hit a hill i would go back to third but found that leaving it in fourth and using a bit more throttle was more economical. It is so accurate that when I fill up at the pump it is within 1/2 a litre of what the scanguage recommends. Highly recommended!
  5. Hi, this may be a bit late for you however we have just completed 10000ks towing a Jayco Swan weighing around 1200kg. Ours is an auto rav and I would definetaly say NO NO NO NO NO......No. The hills absolutely kill it and we got caught in the warrumbungles where it only just got up the hill, the temp was going up and the engine management system began to go to lessen the power to stop it overheating. We averaged around 17 to 18l/100ks travelling at 85km/h. Up to 19l/100 if we tried 95 to 100. The problem seems to be the VVTI engine that loves to rev coupled with the auto means it suddenly goes from 3rd to 2nd and revs itself stupid. We have towed a camper trailer weighing around the 500 to 600kgs and it did it pretty good. A manual one may be a lot better as you could hold 3rd gear longer perhaps. Cheers
  6. Hi We have a 2006 auto CV. I monitor its fuel use with a scanguageII and have found that the best fuel for ours is the 95RON. With 98 octane it really chews through the fuel, 91RON not too bad but we were on average around 50-60ks more per tank when using 95RON. On the highway we get around the 9l per 100ks. cheers
