  1. :(

    I fear my Aurion may be off the road for a few weeks as I was travelling down a road near my place when due to the fact I need to get headlights that actually work, I did not see the rock twice the size of a football in the middle of the road and it's smashed under the car doing about 100km/h. From what I heard it sounded like it's smashed right into the lower strut brace i installed. I fear it may have bent it significantly as now under acceleration, I can hear the exhaust rattling hard against it. :(

    I won't know for sure until I get the car up on a hoist to find out the extent of the damage. But will keep you all posted. If it IS just the lower strut brace and nothing else is bad, i'll just remove it for now. :S

  2. The only addition I can see on the facelift is that it's easier to put a standard double din in place of the stock stereo now and it would look....somewhat right... considering the facia looks similar to the corolla series' now.

    but yeah other than that, i don't think it's too bad, the rear lights take some adjustment to. but other than that, everything else exterior would be transplanted from my current ZR6 (rims etc) :)

  3. The guy that did the 2gr swap into his MR2 didn't need to use an adapter plate to mount the E153 to the engine. Just an M14 helicoil in the block for one of the un-tapped holes for bellhousing mount, and a 1MZ flywheel with heavy duty 3sgte clutch.

    really?! wow... that makes it alot more promising... all you would need now is to fab gearbox mounts, and come up with a cv solution...

    mmm manual aurion with LSD....

    We can only dream, more so. Daryl can do it! COME ON DARYL! :P

    The country is counting on you! ;) haha

  4. Hi again,

    I have no problem pairing my iPhone to the factory BlueTooth unit in my 08 Presara, but it doesn't seem to transfer things like the phonebook (just sits there saying to get the phone to send it, how do you do that?).

    Are there any tricks/tips to get these two gadgets working fully together?

    Cheers

    Guy

    The SatNav unit in the Aurion cannot retreive phonebook data from the iPhone. Only specific phones work in this scenario. I have an iPhone and it works fine except for the phonebook transfer feature, which this I used an old Nokia N95 for. (had my phonebook on it prior to going an an iPhone)

    The iPhone does not have this capability hence why it does not work on the SatNav unit.

  5. Im not sure if im going to like the new one, I am impressed with the new front facelift but not so much looking at the front to back side view of the top of the range.......its starting to look more like Holden and Ford. Toyota should try to keep there own design rather than follow the lines of the other Ozi family cars..

    Anyway ill be keeping mine for a while before changing the ZR6 cost enough for me......Does anyone know how much the new ZR6 would cost yet?

    thanks.

    The Facelift ZR6 is priced at exactly the same pricepoint as the original at $43,999

  6. guys, terribly sorry but i can no longer come! my missus just reminded me its her nephews 2nd b'day on sunday and i totally forgot...so considerate of me, haha :P

    have a great day, but ill be sure to come along to the next one

    That's really unfortunate you and the others who said they can no longer make it well...make it. But such is life I guess. :)

    Whoever is still going haha. We'll have a great time! No matter what! :)

  7. Well so far not so good unfortunately...

    After a complately new system was fabricated (manifolds included, with sensor stuff so it wouldnt cause issues)... Well it did, kicking up the engine managment light and restricting engine revs. While it sounded GREAT on idle, it would keep kicking up diagnostic errors, even after spending over half the day trying to adjust it.

    So we reverted back to the stock setup and started working in stages, just working from the back to the front...

    After fabricating new back sections (after the stock pipe splits into 2) it sounds really meaty and grumbly, although it began to drone even at that moment. 2,000-2,300rpm would just send a massive vibration through the car, drone like hell and even induce the dash rattle. Which i NEVER had until then :S

    So day 1 isnt looking so hot at the moment, but theres always day 2 :) keep ya posted, and i forgot my camera so ill get some pics hopefully.

    i have had the same problem, droning in that rev range, got straight through redback mufflers,replaced centre res with 10 inch hot dog and 8 inch hotdog before the split at the back, ok when its cold but give it some stick up hills and warm the mufflers up its unbearable, and theres nearly no note at all 2500 and above,. going to try another glass packed oval muffler instead of the hotog up front, will let you know how that goes.

    Always something I've been interested in doing to an Aurion, I'd love to see a LARGE centre muffler with just two hotdogs at the back. I think half the issue is there's so much pipe with nothing to stop some crazy reverb happening.

    Well this is the thing. With the Aurion's exhaust. It's main noise cancellation is done at the rear mufflers. It's what stops the majority of the drone. You could pretty much have just straight pipe where the centre resonator is and you won't hear TOO much of a difference if the stock rear mufflers are in place.

  8. I also noticed on that photo the tailpipes look ... bigger.

    I didnt take notice of this at the dealer today.

    Nah. I sat parked at behind that truck at the lights for a couple of minutes and that was one thing I payed attention to. Same size and same tips showing through the centre.

    The pipework was so shiny though. Not all rusty coloured like mine :lol:

    I just had to check it out. I was parked at a massive intersection (Mains Road/Kessels Road) about 5 cars back and saw this truck drive through while I was waiting to turn. First thing I spotted was the clear tail lights and thought, that looks like a Mazda or something (mainly because of the colour). A couple of seconds later it clicked and there I was waiting impatiently for the lights to change. When they did, I just had to catch up to it to have a look since I was already going that way home.

    And I can imagine your type of 'catching up' aswell. :P Well it's good someones got some real world photos of the car. It makes me want to go back tomorrow and see if I can scab some photos of the interior redesign etc.

  9. Well at the moment the 'big' projects on hold. But I've taken ELEGENT's advice and went for the SuperCat Oval 8x4 Hi-Flow Muffler on the back and the burble is there. The drone is there too but its not as loud as it was initially. I can hear noise up higher in the rev range but it seems the front of the car overtakes the rear in the sound department when the revs hit about 4,000 haha.

  10. ... but they do look better in the flesh than in photos...

    Okay. You win this time mate. I got close enough to be able to say that the new tail lights do really look quite good in person. I was really dreading that would happen.

    Ignore the crappy camera phone photos, but looks like this one was on it's way somewhere. The chrome trim around the clear tail lights really does work.

    I went to my dealer today and found they had one of the facelifts there. I gotta admit. Pretty nice and I do agree with ya Daryl, the taillights DO work. Although it makes me want them more. :( This isnt good!

    I also noticed on that photo the tailpipes look ... bigger.

    I didnt take notice of this at the dealer today.

  11. Me and my Aurion are both totally gutted,we can't make this weekends cruise/meet :( family first (unfortunatley)...hopefully i can make the next one whenever that is?

    p.s Please take plenty of photos so i can pretend i was there while i'm looking at em... :lol:

    That's a big shame. :( So it sounds like I'm the only 2GR-FE beast on the cruise! :o Oh well, we'll get ya some photos! Don't you worry!

  12. As DJKOR has stated. This has occured to me aswell after moving from 17" 215/55R17 to 18" 235/45R18's.

    The speedometer beforehand would read exactly 2km/h over when doing 100km/h by GPS.

    GPS = 100km/h

    Speedo = 102km/h

    Now it's like this.

    GPS = 100km/h

    Speedo = 108km/h

    That's a 6km/h jump. Pretty scary to be honest, but I dare not go near 108km/h JUST incase it's not as accurate as ive figured it to be. :P
