  1. I believe scratches on rims can be fixed. Although I do not believe it will look as good as new. You can also get rims re-chromed. I'm not sure how much it would cost to get scratches removed, but I did have a dented rim, and I was Tempe Tyres, they did say they can repair them. So I do not see why they can't fix scratches. Ask around at a few tyre places, I'm fairly certain they would. But it may cost more than it's worth to fix (depending on how much you paid for them in the first place).
  2. I got my car from Chatswood as well. They put this ugly looking sticker on the back window. Yes, it's extremely hard to remove, but, as suggested, I used a blade to get under it and peel as much off with your fingers as possible. You have to go very slowly. Once I got the sticker off, I used Windex and newspaper to get rid of the sticky stuff left behind. I soaked the sticky stuff with Windex, left it for about a minute (making sure it doesn't drip off the window either) then scrubbed really hard with the newspaper. I had to do this, probably about 5 or 6 times to get rid of it all! Goodluck mate!
  3. Thanks guys. I know what the original one is, but I reckon as Chompies said, the remixed version by Toyota sounds really good. That's the one I'd like to get my hands on. If anyone knows, please post it up! :D Thanks.
  4. I'm guessing most of you guys have seen that new Toyota add where the kid is peering through the window and the slogan is something along the lines of "the earlier you sleep, the earlier tomorrow arrives..." I was wandering if anyone had the music to that (without the dude talking over it)? Or know where to get it. That music would sound great as a ringtone or something. Cheers.
  5. Hey JAZE55, sorry to hear about the key'ing. I have a couple of suggestions that may help, Turtle Wax, it comes with a lipstick like wax stick, which you can actually fill in the scratch if it's a deep one. I've used it on my Black Celica before I sold it. It does ok, but you need to re-apply every now and then as it's only wax and will dissolve/come out?? The other thing is, with your new Sportivo, it should have come with some of the Toyota "Touch Up Paint". I've used it on my car for small chips in the paintwork and that seems to be quite good, I don't know how it will do on the longer scratches, but of course, the colour matches quite well. It should be less noticeable if you do a good job on it. Good luck! :)
  6. I've heard of this happening in other countries, great in theory, but it is open for rorting if the correct background work is not done. For example, you are a wealthy person with a family. Your kid goes to uni. You park longer or get caught speeding (via camera, not pulled over) instead of paying the new "high income earner" fine, you claim your kid (Poor uni student) had borrowed the car for the weekend. Now you are only subject to a fine that's half the price or whatever. So I'm not sure how they are going to police this new rule. I think it can only work if you actually get pulled over while you are In the car at the time of the offense? Back on topic, I have to agree with SILVABULLIT. I used to home deliver chinese food as a previous job to get pass uni and so many times when it has been raining, I have seen plenty of P Platers smashing into Telegraph posts or roundabouts. In 3 hours on a Friday nite once, I remember driving past 4 accidents, all involving P Platers and usually in some Commodore/Falcon or fairly well powered car (all standing outside their car thinking, "dad's gonna kill me"). Please do not get me wrong, not all P Platers are idiots, the majority are not. But it's those idiots that give all P Platers a bad name. I just think that until P Platers learn how to drive and drive well, especially in the wet, they shouldn't be allowed behind the wheels of such powerful cars.
  7. Hey all, I have this forum to thank for helping me resolve the clutch problems, so here's some links to some previous posts about the clutch problem. georgec posted this comment about the newsflash, if you tell them the date, they should be able to find it: http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/inde...?showtopic=1483 BlackRolla posted up this email from Jenny Stewart stating that it does need to be looked at: http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/inde...?showtopic=1480 ZeeRolla posted up a section on the parts to look at if you wish to try to fix it yourself: http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/inde...?showtopic=1491 I took my car in just before New Years to Atarmon (Sydney) service, when I got it back, it ran like a dream. The shifting problem was well and truly gone. Although, I did notice that the clutch was higher than before, the friction point is right near the top of clutch. I didn't like the height of the clutch after the fix, but it's better than not being able to shift. :) The fix is not an official recall, but if you have a problem, take it in to your local dealer, if they can't fix it, take it to another, this is what I had to do. Hope this helps!
  8. Hi all, I thought that this would be easy to do for my dealer, to get the clutch adjusted blah blah blah to fix this problem. I just got my car back today, hoping it would all be fixed, only to be told by the Service rep that he got into a massive argument with the mechanics. The service guy is a top bloke, just the mechanics who work for him are dimwits. Apparently the mechanics don't think that the car should be changing gears greater than 6,000 revs, I even printed the email from Jenny Stewart that you guys posted up. He had also given the mechanics the Techinical News Flash that he had received. But the Mechanics reckon that "...> 6,000 revs..." means LESS THAN? What maths grade did they pass? Sorry, I needed to blow off some steam. I guess it was a good reason to leave work early! :P Anyway, I'm hoping some of you guys who have had this problem looked at/fixed, if you could recommend me to the Toyota that you went to, to get it done. I am really keen on getting this resolved. I live in the West Pennant Hills area in NSW. Thanks all.
  9. Thanks for the replies and information guys. To those who think this is a driver fault, you guys are extremely lucky to have a gear box that works properly. I love my Sportivo to bits, but hate this one problem. I have absolutely no problems when changing from 1st to 2nd when travelling under 6,000rpm, whether it be shifting quickly or not. When at those high revs, I have NO choice but to shift like a granny and wait for the gear box to release hold of 1st gear, therefore, never being able to land it in lift. For those who haven't had this problem, try driving a sportivo with this problem and it won't take you long to agree that it is a problem with the car and NOT the driver. :D
  10. Hi all, I know this topic was talked about some time ago. I am unsure of the outcome if anyone can help me with this, or if anyone still has problems. I've had my Sportivo since April this year. From day one, I've noticed that when I'm at around 7,800 revs, I am unable to shift out of first, at least until the revs have dropped. This is making it almost impossible to land the gear change in lift. The best I've been able to do is 2nd gear at approx 5,500rpm. I spoke to Toyota at Pennant Hills yesterday, took my car in for a technician to come for a spin with me. He even called the Tech guys at Toyota? They gave an answer to do with a pin or something that actually intentionally stops you from changing gears at such high revs so as not to blow the engine etc. Basically, I just want to know if this is true. If this is true, I'm wandering what happened to the sportivo's out there that do not have this problem?? Thanks all.
  11. Hey all, This is my first post here, I been reading your comments etc, as I am about to purchase my own Corolla Sportivo. It's been great reading and I've been learning more about the corolla. I was just wondering if any of you have heard of CRD, Croydon Racing Development for mods? I don't think they specialise in anything, i.e. TRD, but they do a lot of mods. I've been to this other guys site and he gets all his work done there, although not a Corolla, I'd imagine that these guys do know their stuff since they have done some huge projects. You can check out some of their work on www.rh9.com.au www.exvitermini.com used to exist and Mario, at one stage had the fastest R33 in Aust. CRD is based in Silverwater now. I'm not sure if I'll be doing many mods to my car when/if I get it, but CRD may be a good place to check out. :)
