  1. Hi, Having a problem with our 07 PRESARA. When you put your foot on the brake the car won't start. It has been going on for a while and is intermittent. I did change the brake light switch (the one on the brake pedal) I'm wondering if there is anything else in the brake circuit it could be? The brakes physically work fine its definitely electrical cos if the car starts fine you can drive it but when you put your foot on the brake and the brake lights don't come on you will get the engine check and VSC warning. I check the computer with my OBD reader and nothing is logged. Cheers
  2. Hi Mate, There isnt much aftermarket support for these cars but other manufacturers (Lotus) are helping to crack our ecu's. Check out this site. So far able to raise Rev Limit and change VVTi curve/Changeover. Not much but its a start. http://www.mr2oc.com/188-v6-mr2-forum/634697-2gr-fe-stock-ecu-has-been-hacked-immobilizer-can-removed.html
  3. Good luck with the sale mate. What wheels are they? They look awesome
  4. Sounds like a Hoot!! and good selection of car. MK1's haul with a cosworth twin-cam or SR in the front so should go good. But back on topic (sorry guys) That is next trial, a couple of resonators where the mufflers were to take a bit of the bark out. Its the car the mrs takes to work so have to work round her but it will get done. Will let you guys know how it goes.
  5. Here Here! cruiseh: Thats quite an impressive thread over there, and love the RS wagons!! Wish i had taken that many photos of my old cars. Hillclimber sounds interesting got a thread on that? GDUBB: Sorry dude didnt mean to put you down. We are all in the same boat as car enthusiasts. Im sure we have all spent too much money on cars and we will all keep on doing so!! POWER!!!!!
  6. Exactly mate..i wanted to mention the fuel economy gain too. I got the similar gain after deleting the mufflers and it sounds awesome plus the acceleration gain is good too. SImply loving it :) Also, more power and better fuel economy don't exactly go together unless you are making your engine burn fuel more efficiently... which there isn't much room to do so for a modern engine like this. not technically correct. By allowing the engine to breath with less restriction, you get less reversion into the cylinders, better scavenging, and slightly leaner AFR's as a result. When i put tubular headers on my subaru with no other changes, i had to richen the fuel mix right across the map as it went on average a whole afr point leaner. Ive no doubt there will be an economy gain, its common with most cars to gain economy, and you may see a slight power/torque gain from the leaner mix, but id imagine its largely a placebo from having a loud exhaust and thinking its faster because it sounbds faster. back to back testing would prove or disprove this, im sure the poster in question could easily do so with a g-tech. Personally, i really dislike the sound of the muffler replacement pipes, theres no depth to the note and its 'raspy' and makes me think of early vn commodores with bogan special exhausts. A decent system with jdm mufflers might sound ok, but its still an auto, and sounds like an attempt to make people think you have a faster car, when in reality, it wont add anything in terms of real performance without a decent ecu remap.. For me, id rather leave the exhaust alone, and work on getting rid of the resonators in the intake, these engines sound great through induction note only, and it keeps it sounding sedate when not sinking the boot in.. I dont mean to be a killjoy lads, but after owning a 11 second car, the Aurion is a slug, and not really worth spending money on performance mods in my mind.. (but its my opinion, and not meant to denigrate others choice of spending their hard earned..) Shadow: Are you saying that you have stock mufflers with the centre resonator deleted? RE the more power and better economy, I would have to say the economy is relatively unchanged and would agree with DJOKR. The factory managment is quite smart, and will adjust fueling, timing to compensate for the slight flow increase. CRUISEH, I cant see there being much scavenging on factory manifolds pumping straight into a CAT then going through the restrictive Y piece. On your subaru im asuming you had tuned length headers installed which are excellent at scavenging, which your standalone aftermarket ECU could not compensate for ( im assuming thats what you were running). I would think the same would apply for power. Slight increase but as CRUISEH said placebo as the car now sounds faster it feels faster. I to have come from an 11sec car (cressida) and think the aurion does alright, gets up and boogies, sounds alright (now) but still uses under 10l/100ks and the mrs can drive confidently to work and back. I say modify your cars as you see fit otherwise the roads will be full of prius's!! Cheers
  7. Hi simplyvandinh, zedder and vijith555 The setup is just 2.5inch press bent pipe that replaces the rear mufflers. simple. I will try and get a video under load to see what it sounds like (still havent heard myself). Also im thinking about getting some resonators put in to cut out some of the drone. Thanks for the comments
  8. Where abouts are these ducktails on e-bay? I cant find any........
  9. Hi guys, I have done this to my aurion. I sounds ok, a bit drain-pipe like down low but gets a nice bark above about 3,500rpm. I was going to try some hot-dogs where the original mufflers were as its a bit droney in the car especially at 100kph. But after scoota44's comment im not so sure. Oh and its 2.5inch pipe. Cheers Richard
  10. I think the first one is a V6 Camry Touring GTP wheel from about 1999? and no idea on the second one Cheers Richo
  11. I just got a letter in the mail today from Toyota explaining the VVTi actuator oil pipe on the left hand rear cylinder bank may develop a leak and i should contact my local dealership to get the hose replaced free of charge. There is no mention of a recall, they call it a "Customer Service Exercise" WooHoo!! no getting my hands dirty.
  12. On the engine side of things, in the new motor magazine they have a write up about a BOLWELL NAGARI. It uses the 3.5l V6 Custom exhaust, intake and in house tune they rate the Aurion engine at 220Kw @ 6200 and 345Nm @ 4700. I guess once you remove the restrictive front section of the exhaust and get a suitable aftermarket computer power can be had. I guess with any new engine its only a matter of time. Having said that they still havent got a great deal more out of the 2zzge.
  13. oh ok well dont i feel like a dill....... Thanks DJKOR
  14. Hi all, Has anyone tried to replace the HID globes in a Presara??? I tried today, pulled the front bumper off to get the headlight out. Got the globe out and followed the lead which obviously goes to the ignitor. that is incorporated to the underside of the headlight. Pulled the igniter apart and the globe is hard-wired in. Am i missing something?? How do they change them at the factory? I have taken photo's and can post them if you want and when i work out how. Cheers Richard
  15. "gday-just my 2 cents worth if you are going to lower the car by any more than 1 inch you should always change the shocks to suit, this is mainly because the shock doesnt work the way it was designed and the oil and or gas gets hot and doesnt do the job it was designed to do,this is what i was told anyways. i had a falcon yrs ago that was lowered when i bought it with standard shocks and they were just terrible under heavy cornering etc, didnt stick to the ground well etc, when replaced with shocks designed for lowered vehicle the difference was incredible, they stuck like s..t to a blanket. just my opinion cheers " Yeah i agree as well. Its more the spring rate is higher and is moving the shock faster than it was designed to and in turn heats and thins out the fluid which travels through the valving easier which causes bouncing and an uncontrolled wheel. Im looking at coilovers, but was just curios as to how other peoples were going as it seems a lot of people are doing it. Thanks for the responses
  16. Hi all. How are you guys goin with lowered springs, big wheels and std shocks?? Any of them blown/ bouncy or are they holding up?? Cheers guys
  17. So how are you guys goin with lowered springs, big wheels and stock shocks?? Any of them blown/ bouncy or are they holding up?? Cheers guys
  18. Good luck for the hunt Just remember "Its a toyota!"
  19. I have just Purchased an Ex-rental. So far no dramas. I have owned 2 Ex-rentals previously (both were corollas) and one of my friends also owned an Ex-rental corolla neither of us has had any troubles with any of them, So far this one is just as good. just listen real good on the test drive and go over it with a finetooth comb. and they go cheap!! Good luck!
  20. OOHH. Do you have any ideas on the time frame of the affected ones?? I just bought one, its a mid 07 with sunroof no sighns of water seepage yet. but we have only had it 4 days but will keep an eye out. Thanks for the heads up. Its good to hear yours has been fixed up Cheers Richard
  21. Thanks Gnome The car is great so far! im very impressed! Yeah i want to find out about that toyota link bizzo. So i just push the toyota link button and have a yarn do i? does it cost anything?? if so how much? So far i have swapped the intake hoses round and am looking for a K&N panel replacement filter, I wanted to do the coilover swap but kinda dont want to now as it rides so nice!!! Am yet to get photo's of it as im too busy driving it! Sorry. Cheers Richard
  22. Yeah Its got tints, and pretty sure the presara has HID headlights as factory. The STD rims arent too bad for now but am looking at lowering it soon. I was meaning to ask you V-FX how your coilovers are going, what spring rate you got and how it rides?
