we have that annoying rattle as well, mine came from the stereo region. There's a toyota fix here which changes the gear selector cable and gear knob, haven't heard a rattle from that area ever since :) mikey

I'm sure about getting LEDs and I got no idea about the resistors. Can I just buy those "condoms" instead? What's the difference between them?? ← if you want to put leds on, all you need is a multimeter and ohms law (V=IR) the voltages around the console very by a few volts. you should vary the resistor values so that each led runs with the same current and hence have a similar intensity. I've got all my centre console and head unit changed to red leds...the climate control and clock backlights need a bit of tweaking and wide angle leds to get the backlight consistant. The head unit is a different story... if your unsure about leds, then just go with the condoms, however, i do recall some people mentioning some fading...? Another alternative is to simple colour the condomless bulbs the colour you wish, may fade over time tho...

y do you need to take out the stereo surround for the centre console? anyway, everything comes out from the shifter upwards, each part (the shifter’s surrounds and centre console) should click out by simply prying it with a screwdriver (gently) just make sure you do all four corners a little bit at a time, otherwise one of the clips might snap.

Hi Bill, Yep you are supposed to get this sound as is everyone alse from what I have researched. Both Peekay and myself had this from day one so thoroughly had it checked out. It seems it is just one of those strange noises our cars make from time to time. I have also seen it mentioned on other overseas forums too with no one having any adverse effects from it and some of those guys have done 100,000 miles. So I stopped worrying about it a long time ago. cheers mate ← i get that noise as well, but i've had it under all sorts of conditions, not just with the AC on...tried to pinpoint the condition when i first got the car...no luck

btw. ne one wanna buy some *genuine toyota* smd leds and bulbs off me? one user only...as new...will make your sportivo have a funky original green appearance...

update :) So i was driving home from work today and i looked at my red dash..then at the centre console..i was like *cool* then i looked at my radio...dam green thing! so i decided to mod the radio :o long story short had some problems, fixed them and now i have a red HU as well well mostly red..u'll see when i post pix...i took some pix during the mod...when i get time i'll show ya guys..but for now i need some sleep... i really should stop impulsively doing these things (especially after work) and plan a whole day for mods...oh well heheh just part of the fun...

left work early today and had some time free...so i decided to finally change the console lights to red leds...bout time.. my intention was to change the stock radio as well... took it all apart and was ready to exchange the green smd leds with superbright red ones... ........then.....i noticed that the ones that illuminated the rings around the volume and multifunction knobs were located under the digital encoders...freaken......cr@p. That would mean i'd hafta desolder the encoders off as well....not to mention take apart the lcd housing to change the backlight of the lcd display..... in the end i put everything back together (actually just an hr ago) . so now only the console lights are red just letting ppl know that its not an easy job to change the stock radio lights...even if u don't mind changing the smd leds like me :o maybe its a sign for me to get a real sound system ...too bad my wallets a lil dry atm.. <_< all in all i'm happy with the red console look, looks coool B) Mikey

i think homebush carpark would be a good centralised spot :) I think earlier would be better...in fact i wouldn't mind checkin out some cars in some light ..
