  1. You're really not at any risk. Paypal is just an intermediary so once the money is in there, he can't take it back. Though be sure to address the Paypal fees too. Once he pays, if he pays, then you pass him the car. But either case, this really doesn't sound like it will go through but you never know..

  2. i run my sx6 as a taxi around hobart, there are many hills to climb and my fuel consumption is around 10.5 to 11.2 lt/100. this is running on ron91, have tried ron95 but this seems to up the consumption to nesr 12lt/100. the best i got from the v6 camry (modded) on ron95 was 12.4lt/100.

Wait so you're saying that 91RON is actually more efficient than 95RON? I find it hard to believe that, because on paper there's nothing to support that. Obviously your driving style and conditions would work into that somewhere but I think you should give it another go. I have been using 95RON since I picked it up from the dealer so I wouldn't be able to differentiate; but if it is healthier for the engine I am prepared to pay the premium.

  3. + the judge asked what evidence on the speed I was doing and police said guesstimation.. I should of argued saying could of been 30 under... BUT I was ok cause I got off lightly for what speeds I was really doing

They can do that now? I always thought they'd let you off if they had no hard evidence, I mean, it really is just your word against his in this case if he didn't have a speed reading. Worrying thought that they're allowed to use that kind of "evidence" in court.

  4. When you're talking sound, what you have to work with; $5000 really isn't that much for what you're looking at getting. 12 speakers, screen mounts and the installation and fabrication of the interior is going to set you back more than double that if you want it done right. If you split that up, it would be something like 4 tweeters and 6-8 woofers as well as a sub sitting in the boot - that would really require some professional work.

Sure, with $5k you can get a more than decent set of tweeters, 2 pairs of 6.5's, a sub and 2 amps to power everything, installed with a GPS headunit and 2 passenger screens. Even get a set of splits installed in the passenger doors, but you're really not working with enough for what you want. Maybe start there and build on it with time.

  5. Country run: Did a near pure country run yesterday(200km, most at 80 or 110), filled up before and after on E10. Got 8.6l/100km

I also took my Navman to test the speedo accuracy. It scales a bit, starting at about 1.5km/h slow at 60, getting up to 3km/h slow at 110.

Basically, at 80 & 100km/h, to actually do that speed, the left edge of the needle needs to be on the number. To do 110, their needs to be about 2 mm gap between the needle and the indicator line.

That's perfectly normal, in fact I thought manufacturers have a 5% leeway but they usually show you going faster than you actually are.

  6. Just by looking at it I can tell you that it is exactly the same fascia as you buy from Toyota, meaning you will need the spacers which cost close to $40 for both sides, but those can be purchased from Toyota too, so it just means you don't need to buy the fascia to change head units, though for those who decide to keep stock head unit, that thing is hideous!

  7. Wait, so for LEDs we have to change the whole unit if a light blows rather than just a bulb? That is a bit worrisome..

I know LEDs last a LOT longer and draw less power, but if we have to change the whole unit for 500 odd every time something blows it would still be more economical for a $3 globe wouldn't it?

  8. Does anybody think there's quite a bit of sound deadening on the Aurion? I have a 750wrms sub in the back, and when the boot is open it goes pretty loud and low, but when the boot is shut there's just rattle, hardly any bass there at all. Inside the car it is also not as impressive as I would expect it to be - NOTHING compared to an open boot. I'm actually a bit worried to crank it too high as I don't know what the factory speakers can handle and I'm worried I blow them, or damage something else with all the rattle but the still there is not enough sound coming in.

  9. Damn. That gap is pretty serious. I guess Toyota had it designed to fit their aftermarket head units. They just had to do everything different didn't they. Maybe the one from fascias.com.au wasn't such a bad purchase after all dannywss? Let us know about the fitment.

That gap can be filled with spacers bought form the parts store. Completely fills the gap, I will try and take a picture when I get the chance tomorrow. But here are the parts numbers and prices for everything:

    Spacer: Left - 86221 52050, Right - 86221 52060 ($16.60 each)

    Single DIN pocket: 55521 YA020 20 ($11.70)

    Fascia: PZQ60 33030 ($30)

    Hope that helps a bit.

  10. On a similar note is the 2 piece seat in the diagram the cover and the actual seat? Because I've got a nasty stain on the back cover and I didn't think they were only covers - would i be able to take them off and order a new set?

  11. I had a look, the clips seem to be normal except the plastic around it is bent because the guy jumped on my seat when the metal part wasn't properly inside the hole. I called Toyota regarding the part number and they said the part costs $5.35 which is alright, so I just have to order it in.

Also, I noticed clips behind the seat, does that plug into anything?

  12. Thanks, I'll go take a look see if i can find it. Big hassle just for a little bit of plastic, i hope Toyota even sell the part, otherwise my seat is going to be left extremely loose. Really questions the professionalism of the audio installers too, I saw him bouncing up and down hammering the seat into place, then when I got home and removed the seat myself and attempted to reattach it, it just took a little push and it clipped straight in..

  13. Hey guys,

so today I was getting my amp installed and when they removed the rear seats it seems like they were careless or something because now the left side won't lock in and the plastic looks a little bent. Is this part possibile to replace, and if so would anyone know the parts number?

  14. You have made this thread already here. There really is no point for you to keep making new threads, just be patient and wait for someone to reply to your original post.

In any case personally I would go for the Michelin's just for the GPS, I'm not too sure about the differences between the tyres, but I don't think they will be substantial, and I'm sure the benefits of one will be evened out by some of the benefits of the other tyre.

  15. Hmm its a bit of a mixed bag with me, the tail light on the Sportivo look a little weird, I think the clear tail lights are a bit bland and look a bit odd but the new Sportivo grille looks quite nice.. Hmm, guess I just need to wait till I see one in real life to decide whether I like it or not. For now I'm still swaying towards the old model.

  16. I guess some people want a sporty-style car (Better handling, sporty looks & etc.), while some want something comfortable & luxurious (More refined, premium feel & etc.). All down to personal preferences at the end of the day.

As the current ES is no longer sold in RHD markets, the Presara fills in the void left by the Lexus ES in Australia (At a cheaper price too. The last gen ES downunder from what I could remember, retailed under $90k or thereabouts.).

I do agree with you regarding the different needs and wants of the market but the thing is though, now that the ES is gone, people willing to spend that much on a car are not going to want to drop down to a $55k Toyota. At the end of the day, while the Presara is a marketed as a luxury car, the image of Toyota is not seen as a prestige car brand by consumers and the Presara won't fill the the void left by the ES.

They should really give an option like Honda do with the interior where you can get a marble interior which looks much better than the woodgrain in my opinion. That is one thing they could work on; improving the customisation options for the Aurion.

  17. i have the same system-it is a toyota system that is installed at the dealers,we had instructions etc with ours plus the toyota warranty stuff
