  1. The thing about luxury cars in that price range is that they are either slow, or they are fast. There's really no in between, so with $60k that will get you base models of most of those vehicles which will be in the 4 cylinder range and definitely wont have as much power as the Aurion. If that was the case, then I would say the Liberty is your best bet as those European cars generally aren't very powerful until you're paying well over $80-90k.

Oh, and other cars in that price range include: BMW 3-series and Mercedes C Class. If you aren't worried about size and you want power, a VW R32 would be the way to go.

  2. the most expensive, cheap-***** polish you will ever buy. essentially, you pay $700 for an inexperienced detailer to rub polish all over your car, and you have it take it back once a year for reapplication (free of charge) otherwise you void your paint warranty

    Yep , sounds about right.

Dealers LOVE selling customers "paint protection" or whatever else they call it because it allows them to make a hefty margin on the service. I reckon if they are charging you $700 , they are probably making a good $500 out of it.

Surely it would be cheaper just to take your to a decent car detailer and just have them wax and polish it.

I doubt it would even cost $700 ?

when i bought my car they asked me if i wanted the paint protection package and it was $749

That really is a genuine ripoff, I could just do it myself for a fraction of that price using quality products such as Meguiars rather than let them rub generic rubbish all over my car, and as you can see, they cant even seem to do it right.. The last thing I'd pay $749 is for my car to be all scratched like that.

  3. "Car has been put on dyno but put out so much power the dyno actually exploded."

"Custom JDM Tinted rear windows (fronts clear so everyone can see you) "

LOL and take a look at the Q&A's.. left me in stitches. I wonder if he's actually serious about selling it or is the whole thing a joke

  4. I was tossing up on a few occasions whether or not to remove them. I eventually decided to leave them on because I just don't trust anyone in a car park these days. So many people out there who have no respect for your car.

I try and avoid parking next to station wagons and 4 wheel drives (as most are used to ferry kids around and will never see so much as a dirt track) , the little Jimmys and Debbies that get out of these vehicles could not care less about putting a scratch or dent in your car.

I once had a open the drivers door to get into her car , and whack ... right into mine , while I was in it.

I got out and told her off ... her response was to blame me for parking too close to her ... the stupid C**T.

I should have put the sole of my shoe through her door , but it just wasn't worth the trouble of getting involved with human garbage like that.

Same thing happened to me, cept this time it was a Mitsubishi GTO and this stuck up bitch gets out of the car like shes hot ****, slams her door into my old Camry, then when she sees me she acts like shes all careful and ****. Well, I waited until she was gone and I returned the favour. Musta sucked considering my car was over 15 years old and I really couldn't have given a rats ***** if she left a dent in my door, though its just the respect she failed to show for my property.

  5. By "No side mouldings" do you mean the strips that run horizontally along the doors ?

Alot of new cars nowdays don't have them , although I prefer a car with them , I reckon it gives some protection (from dents and scratches) to the doors from idiots and kids that fling car doors open in car parks.

Yeah pretty much those things, I couldn't care less about them to be honest, it doesn't bother me at all to leave it on, I actually think the door looks a bit plain without them.

  6. Your freaking me out a little..Im due to pick up an 09 ZR6 on 8th Sept and now i got no idea what im going to see when i pull up at the dealer. May need to ask some questions methinks.

Considering all the paperwork has been done already you'll most likely be getting the current model Aurion unless you have been told otherwise. I don't think they will start selling the new models until the demonstrators come in so you can have a proper test drive and check it out for yourself.

  7. Hi all

i tried to look it up, but no luck. I need to know how do you remove the rear seats

any help would be great. :)

I recall DJKOR posting on a thread to do with wiring an amp that you need to slip both hands under the seat around some sort of plastic clips then pull it up. Though I cant find that thread anymore so you should wait until someone gives you the proper steps. Also note that he said the clips were very fragile and stupidly designed so you should be quite careful

  8. Yes have just found out how to change the boot up screen.

I went to the eclipse website and asked through their support section and the emailed me the instructions.

Instructions are a little indepth but it is not that hard if you know your way around a computer.

Would you mind posting the instructions? I would like to see if it will work on the AVN-6000

  9. Was looking at a single din slide out screen for my Aurion, but I realised it wouldn't look that good as there would need to be a compartment put under the head unit, and the screen would cover the air con vents, so i ended up going with the double din AVN 6000 which i cant complain about. Suits the car a lot better as well in my opinion.

  10. And for remote key, I think it's pretty expensive. Isnt there a thread about how to program a remote key? U can look up the remotes from ebay and the step by step is written on the thread.

You need to pay Toyota to program the key for you as well, so even if you buy it off eBay cheap you will need to pay for labour and they will probably rip you off.

  11. At staff price the window tinting was about $295 and the remote about $270 i think it was, also the mats by themselves were under $150 but i cant remember the specific prices. Keep in mind though, these are staff prices, but use them as a guideline to try haggle a little

  12. Well, that is something worth looking into when i have some free time on my hands. I don't myself using the map reading lights much anyway, so they would be a lot more useful for me if they worked with the dome light.

That Jaycar festoon LED thingy seem quite hard to find on eBay, I might have to pay the premium.

Thanks for the help as usual DJKOR!

  13. Sorry, I could only find the thread about changing number plate lights in the FAQ and the parker to LED conversion.

I'll probably be getting a single festoon and just a pair of LED to change the map reading lights but ill keep the doors the way they are now.

Although, one other thing, does anyone know if it is possible to make the map reading lights light up along with the dome light when the doors are opened?

  14. I'm about to buy LEDs to replace the interior lights, though i opened up the dome light and the map reading light and they appear to have different bulbs. The dome light has one with connectors either end and the map light only connects on one end. I'm looking at those 5SMD LEDs, but will they fit in the dome?

I havent opened up the door lights yet, but I'm assuming they're the same as the map lights.

So I'm looking at buying 4 SMD Leds (map lights + doors) but i dont know what to buy for the dome. And one other thing, will i have to cut any wires or is installation as simple as plug and play?

    thanks!

  15. how? by high to low voltage converter?

That's the only way to connect an amp to the stock head unit.

do you loose much quality this way?

im told using a pre-amp can give u an as good a setup as with a aftermarket system

Using a converter wont give you a noticeable difference in quality as I once discussed with DJKOR, however when I spoke to a installer about his quote was "if anything shorts it will blow the ***** out of your head unit". Needless to say he recommended I change to a headunit with preouts if I wanted to install an amp.
